Veils?????? Anyone know the difference between all these?

Okay, I tried on the dress I really like and mu best friend (MOH) from VA is coming up in about 2 weeks to look at it with me.

Now I'm on to veils.

What's the difference between:

bridal illusion

silk organza

silk tulle

silk gauze

english net
???????????????????

The dress I may get is organza & lace.

Thanks ladies

I just tried on a bunch with my dress and picked out the ones that looked the best! I couldn't see any other way of doing it other than what looked best - the rest is irrelevant to me LOL

Well, after some research, I found some info.

Bridal Illusion
The vast majority of veils on the market, are made from a fabric known in the industry as bridal illusion. This tulle is essentially a very fine polyester netting. Soft & sheer, bridal illusion exhibits a diamond-shaped weave. Veils made from bridal illusion have slightly more body than those made from silk or English netting.

English Netting
This tulle is made from cotton and features a hexagonal pattern weave. Veils made from English netting fall with a slightly heavier drape than those of bridal illusion.

Silk Tulle
Silk tulle is exceptionally sheer and luxurious. Like English netting, silk tulle also features a hexagonal weave. Silk, however is more soft and fluid than either bridal illusion or English netting.

the pics are
1 - bridal illusion
2 - english netting
3 - silk tulle

and still more pics

1 - bridal illusion veil
2- english netting veil
3 - silk tulle veil

basically, bridal illusion is a little body, english netting less body and silk tulle no body.

Unfortunately, I can't find any silk tulle veils for a reasonable price. It's hard to find silk tulle in the U.S. It's easily available in the UK.

There is supposedly a place in Manhattan - Paul's Veils in the garment district in Manhattan (30's) - that can make reasonably priced silk veils. Not sure if the silk tulle is the same quality as the silk tulle in the UK?

It is hard to find veils that are not bridal illusion. Some people ordered the silk & had it made. I think by Sew Deb? I think Eogara & Bethsiar posted about that.

I ordered samples of silk tulle. There are two types too?!?! Hansson's silk tulle in London - very soft and delicate and cannot hold up to edging, scattered crystals and such. A cut edge is recommended.

Then there is Crowning Glory silk tulle (also from London) which can is more coarse and can hold up to edging.

The pic with the gold is of Crowning Glory silk tulle.

The pic with the bride is the Hansson's silk tulle
