Velvet Studios...anyone work anyone other than Bob???
I know another Bride on here that's booked with Velvet for my date and I think she's working with Bob (which is the person I hear raves about). So I'm guessing I won't be able to get him. So if anyone has worked with anyone else from Velvet can you please tell me about your experience with them. Thanks!

He can get another photographer for the day of but he'll still do all the work. You can even meet with that photographer before you book to make sure you like him/her.

I think Bob is the owner/main photographer. From what I have read it seems like it is him and his wife that do the work at weddings. I am also very interested in them but I recently was FMed a bad review so now I'm not sure...

There are other photographers that Bob uses..my sister had Jerry do her wedding and her pictures are just as beautiful.
And about the bad review...there are always going to be something said about a vendor- it can't be perfect 100% of the time. If you do a search on here for Velvet, you see very little complaints. I am sorry to any bride that has had a bad experience with them, but my sister had a wonderful experience with them and so far I can say the same.

I used Velvet but I had Bob. I did see another album done by another photographer there because he wanted to show me the layout and it was beautiful. If you can't get Bob just take a look at the other photographers work so you know if you like their style or not and definately meet with them too. Good luck!

I really liked the work of some of the other photographers he has working for him. After all he employees them and his name is at stake. I'm booked with Velvet but not with Bob and I'm happy.
There are always good and bad reviews about vendors. It's important to communicate and make sure you and whoever the photographer is are on the same wave length so in the end you'll be happy

I know there is one person on here that tells everyone about her bad experience, but you can't go by that. Obviously we only get one side of the story on this site.
You can't only go by girls' good experiences on here either. It can HELP in your decision, but it shouldn't be the deciding factor... that's for any vendor. You are the one that has to work with the them on your wedding day.
I booked velvet back in march 2005. I hadn't even signed up for LIW yet or heard any reviews. We just clicked with bob and knew he would capture our day the way we wanted, and he did!

I know that Jeanla4c used velvet and did not have bob. She had a great experience and loves her proofs! I'd FM her.

You cannot go by one bad review or one good review! I've heard several rave reviews about several vendors and was not impressed! In fact one of the DJs did not show up to the appointment. Everyone has different expectations and different views on experiences. In the end it is you that has to work with the vendor and recomendations can be helpful but you also have to build a relationship with that vendor.

Totally well said! I am sure any photographer that works for velvet is good. If it isnt Bob I would ask to meet with the photographer for your day of GOod luck!

I really appreciate all of the replies. I definitely would never base my opinion from only one bad review. Like I said I hear raves from them and after seeing their pictures from many brides on here I've been very impressed and they are definitely my style pictures!
I'll let everyone know how everything goes after my appointment with Bob on Saturday Thanks again!

Hi---past Velvet studios bride here booked in Oct 05 when I knew ONE person using them on any wedding board---
I will admit that I was minorly disappointed when I found out Bob wasn't shooting the wedding (didn't find out til the week before) but that is where my disappointed ENDED....we have equally beautiful pics and video. My proofs aren't scanned but my completed album is in my community album. Feel free to FM me too. We had Jerry as our main photographer and Iris doing B/W...photographer asst Jaime also took some amazing pics, and Julia did videography. HTH.
