vendor booking jitters!

Have any of you gone to make a vendor booking official and then suddenly started second guessing yourself and wondering if you're making a mistake, even though you felt really really confident about the choice a few days ago?

We found a photographer we really liked, and I checked out his references and such and we decided to book him, and I felt really really good about the choice. Then we went away for a few days before I could contact him, and now I'm writing an email to him to ask him to hold the date for us until we can meet with him to sign a contract, and I'm getting all nervous and second guessing myself!

Ug... I really feel like I have no confidence in my own decision making skills these days. I just want so badly not to make the wrong decisions for the wedding. I really did feel so good about this decision... I'm pretty positive it's just my own worry getting the better of me...

Has anybody else felt this way?

I felt like this for my reception, photographer and dj, because they are such important parts of the wedding. We put so much pressure for everything to be perfect. I keep telling myself to relax and my day will be wonderful!!! Don't worry a lot of brides feel like this.

Not so much about my vendors, but MY DRESS! It really wasn't my absolute first choice but I couldn't afford my first choice (it's almost double what I paid for the one I ended up with). Now, I am sitting here wondering if I was too hasty... I know I will feel better once I see it and it's been fitted, but right now I'm terrified!!!

I felt like that too after booking some vendors. but it all turned out amazingly well

I am the queen of second guessing. I walk in to sign to contract knowing there's no one else but once I sign it, I wonder if I've made the right decision. Those jitters will ease off with time

I think its okay to second-guess yourself, especially when booking vendors.
If I were you I would meet with a couple more photographers just to see how they match up against your current favorite.
I think most people ultimately feel a connection or some sense of familiarity with their vendor of choice. They feel that they can basically relate to what you want or just what you’re looking for. I think when your going through the process and find your perfect vendor you really do feel it, if you don't feel it yet, just meet with a couple more, ultimately in the end you'll know who the right one is.

They are professionals in this industry. You can't do everything yourself so you have to trust in your vendors...

This happens to be every time I make any kind of decision whatsoever in regards to the wedding. In fact, I posted almost the same exact question a couple of months ago. I don't know what the heck is wrong with me, but I've chalked it up to wanting the day to be 'perfect' and that's why I keep second guessing everything. Thank g-d for my FH who keeps me in check and assures me we are making the right decisions.

If you do your research, get along well with a vendor, and it's in your budget - go for it!

Yes! I feel that way too! It's just because you want everything to be perfect and your spending a lot of money to ensure that so you don't want to make the wrong decision. I think that when you go with your gut, you'll always make the right choice.

not to be a debbie downer, but I felt that way about a vendor I booked and it turned out I should have listened to my gut.

I actually signed with a florist 8 days after we were engaged, and just recently switched to Flower Michele. I was lucky that the florist I originally booked was willing to give the deposit back since there is still plenty of time until our wedding day.

For a photographer, though... it's a bit different. Once you're booked, you're booked. So maybe just go see a few other photographers to make SURE you're doing the right thing. I signed with Patken - it's hard to have doubts about them. If I DIDN'T sign them, I REALLY liked Fine Arts Photography. Maybe just check a few other places out before you 'commit'. But do it soon just in case you stick with the current photographer you're considering... you don't want them to book! Also, just make sure whatever photographer you book KNOWS your RECEPTION SITE and PICTURE TAKING site. I am VERY confident knowing that my photographer knows The Crescent and Planting Fields VERY well, so he knows the key shots to get. Once you do a LITTLE more homework, you'll feel better when you finally 'commit'. HTH!
