Vendor Deposits

Vendor Deposits

I have a question regarding vendor deposits. How much of a deposit did your vendors require upon signing the contract? Specifically, I am interested in DJ, Limo, Photo, Video and flowers? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

DJ: $200 (total was $1400, the rest is due the day of my wedding)
Limo: $100 (total was $2500, the rest is due the day of the wedding
Photo: $200 (total was $2600, the rest is paid off by a payment plan)
Video: $600 (total was $1200, a 1/3 of the balance is due a month before my wedding the last 1/3 is due when I pick up my videos)
flowers: did not book yet

DJ - 1/3
Photo - $400 regardless of the package
Video - $400, not sure if this was based on a percentage
Flowers - $50
Dress - 1/2 down
Limos - did not get yet!

Band: $1000
Flowers: $50
Photo/Video: $500

I don't have everyone booked yet, but here are mine:

Photo--1/3 package price ($868)
Video--1/3 package price ($400)
DJ--1/3 package price ($400)

Dress: 1/2 down

Photo was $500 and a big chunk the week before the wedding, the balance is due when we order our album.

Video 1/3 of package when we booked and a large part (nearly the balance before the wedding) and there's a small amount due when we pick up the video.

Flowers $200 to hold the day. We paid in two other installments, everything was due before the wedding.

DJ - $ 400 when we signed plus two other insallments. the final one was due the at the wedding.

DJ - 1/3 of price ($300)

Photo - $400, no more til AFTER the wedding (this is REALLY rare!)

Video - 20% ($770 - altho they let me pay that in installments too)

Flowers - 1/3 of price ($360)

Limos - haven't done that yet

From what i am seeing 1/3 down is the common deposit,for most of the vendors.Which i think is very fair knowing of course that is the vendor you are staying with.
