WOW. I am so sorry. It sounds like the whole thing was planned - even down to when the asst. told you the officiant wasn't coming (after they got the balance anc tip). It's very shady and if I were you, I would write a letter stating how upset you are about the situation. I don't think I would send a thank you, no. They are not mandatory and if you have nothing to thank them for, you don't!
So sorry this happened to you!!!!!

i agree sounds like from a week ahead of time he knew he wasnt going to make it. If there was no previous talk about an assistant being there and him saying he'll show up 10 mins before which he knows you wouldnt even really have time to sit there and be on the phone calling.
As far as the review, thats the one time you can talk about your experience, i think you cant sit there and say THEY S*CK and nobody use them but just simply speak about what happened. In reviews you do see it and vendors do get bad ratings and i have read others say that a vendor completely messed up or didnt show up or was very late. Maybe FM client services first and ask them about it

That is a really unfortunate situation. Sorry to hear it. Did you sign a contract with this person?

I would not send a thank you but I would call and let him know that you are very upset about what happened and that you want a refund. He did not perform the service that was paid for. I would then follow up with a letter stating what was discussed in the call and the resolution if there was one.
As for your review, from what I understand from other posts if you leave emotion and bad mouthing out of it and just state the facts you should be fine but you may want to contact client services and get them to approve that portion of your review ahead of time to avoid any repercussions.
So Sorry this happened to you. At least you were able to have the ceremony and are now married.

Wow, thats unbelievable! I would have asked for the balance and tip back. That is the most important vendor of the day, and for them to let you down like that is unacceptable. I really can't believe that, and i don't buy that excuse either. Definitely write the truth in your review, thats what there for. So sorry that happened!

That is just awful! I would demand at least some of my money back. Did the officiant even call you or email you to apologize? I think you should just be honest in your review. As long as you are telling the truth it should be fine. I am sure plenty of brides would want to know this info. I would forget the Thank you note. They do not deserve it. Can you FM me who your officient was supposed to be? I am still looking for one and I do not want to use an unreliable person. Thanks.

i would demand some money back too. You paid for HIS services and if the assistant did it then it should be less bc its his assistant. It would be like the photographer not showing up and sending in the assistant, its different prices for different ppl so should be the same in the situation, at least i think so. Read your contract and see what it says about the assitant performing the ceremony in any case that the officiant is not able to, maybe there is something about it in there

Wow, talk about a wedding nightmare! I am so sorry that this happened to you.
I personally think the vendor should refund 100% of the money--it's really the best business practice, in my opinion (other than showing up, obviously). You should, at the very least, get your tip and a heafty discount returned.

OMG my stomach just dropped when I read that. I am so terribly sorry I believe you have the right to speak your mind about the situation. Just be honest and tactful so other brides can use your experience to help in their decision making.

That is very upsetting and also kind of awkward. You should at some point call up and find out what happened. Sorry you had that stress on your day

OMG im so sorry that happened!!!!! def fm client services and ask them what you can write and if u can write who it is and explain what happened (without writing DO NOT use so and so) but tell the truth and see what they say you can do without it being deleted
but you def need to write or call the officiant and demand a refund..you spent time picking this particular person and what you wanted said and u did not get the services you paid for

thanks girls. i guess it could have been worse, at least there was someone there to marry us and our wedding was amazing regardless. i'm just upset that it was so shady...how i was told the assistant was a courtesy, meanwhile obviously the assistant was the replacement.
i don't want my money back. i just want to be able to review everything the way they happened. i don't want to bash this vendor, but at the same time i think it's only fair that i get to write a review and say what actually happened. maybe then this vendor will realize it was a big mistake and that they shouldn't do that to people.
i truly feel that if i was told honestly a few weeks before that someone else was going to perform the ceremony i would have been fine w it. having a panic attack 10 minutes before my ceremony made me crazy, since i was already nervous about the ceremony as it was. it just wasn't right, the way it was done.
thanks for listening and for your advice!
and if u were told you could have at least met with the replacement and told them what you wanted so she could have been more prepared and you would have felt more comfortable!
