Vendor follow-ups

Vendor follow-ups

Here's a question.
After meeting with a bunch of potential vendors, how should you inform them that you've decided to go in another direction or have just picked another vendor. I'm not sure if I should be calling them or waiting to hear back from them? I kinda feel bad telling them, since they do invest some time with you and most of them are very nice.

It depends on the vendor, like hair and makeup I wrote them an email letting them know.

Flowers I booked with who I wanted to and I did not let any other florists that I saw know no need to....... IMO

DJ i did let him know, but i think that was only because I wanted a refund

When I got follow up calls I let them know. If they left a message, I called them back.

This one took some thought, thanks MG.

Well, they do invest time with you. And its normal to feel bad. But they invest time in everyone that walks through those doors. Furthermore, once they find out you are not interested or are still looking, you may be treated differently. Thank God some are professional enough to be courteous or gracious losers to the vendors you chose victorious. But I have, in the past, realized that they get nasty or snide afterwards. So don't feel bad. Its their job. And chances are, they make ten times more money then we do so don't feel bad.

As to how I tell them....If they call me to follow up, I just be sure and thank them for their time and it was a pleasure, but I have chosen to go with a vendor that suits us a little better. And then there are those that never follow up.....so good riddance
