Vendor Payment Plan???

Vendor Payment Plan???

When you book a reception hall must you pay them on a monthly basis? Or, like some other reception halls they don't care how you pay as long as everything is paid up 30 days before your date. I would rather deposit my money into a savings account. Because I get scared sometimes and think, 'What if that vendor goes out of business? How would you get your deposit back? Do you ladies think that I could express this to a vendor?

Advice? Suggestions

Re: Vendor Payment Plan???

Reception halls usually require a certain percentage up front (anywhere between20%-35%). Then they usually scatter payments so they receive another 25% within the next several months after signing the contract and the remainder a couple of weeks before your wedding date (although every Reception hall is different so pay close attention to your contract).

I would suggest that you NEVER pay anything up front or in full. It leaves you no leverage and it protects you from instances such as what you posted about going out of business or the like.

Speak to someone from your hall so you agree on a payment plan that works for you.

never pay all the money upfront, but almost all reception halls require you to give atleast 1k, or 1500$ deposit upfront and than scatter payments so its easier on you throughout the months....

Im sure that you express your fears, i dont know if they will change the payment plan but you never know.

Our hall required a deposit and then if I am remembering we had 5 payments due throughout the time until the day of. If they go out of business I would think that they would HAVE to give you your money back. Maybe you could ask to add a clause (sp?) into the contract stating if they go out of business you will receive your monies paid back.

Your RH should have set up a payment plan with you in the contract. The contract from your RH should have also stated a cancellation clause on their behalf.
As for all of your other vendors, since they are all considered (or should be considered) 'payment due upon delivery', they should have set up payment plans with you, or set mutual monetary expectations, minus the deposit for the date.

make sure it is written in your contract at RH and all of your vendors.

heads up for rh's- suffolk seems to require less deposit on a whole, and suffolk law also requires to give nearly all of the deposit back if you cancel 6 months before an event
