Vendor Prices and Availability for Holiday Weekends

Aside from the RH, does anyone know if vendors charge more on holiday weekends? Also for those of you getting married on a holiday weekend, how far in advance are you booking your vendors and sending out STDS?

I'm getting married the Sun of Labor Day weekend also...some of the places we saw did treat it like a Sat night...Crest Hollow didn't...we got Sun night prices.

I booked way in advance and will send the STD out no less than a year before, not only b/c of the holiday weekend, also b/c FH family is in GA and I want to give them enough time to make arrangements

Yea I would like to err on the side of caution with the STD's and want to send them out sometime this spring but FMIL thinks I should wait exactly a year because it is so far off. Lori when you say you booked way in advance do you mean the reception hall or all of your vendors? I booked the RH but nothing else and am not sure when I should do that.

i would send them out earlier than a year in advance. maybe around june? play it safe on holiday weekends. and i would DEFINITELY start booking vendors now!

To be honest, my personality is to get things done right away, so I did my church dj and photog already....

The good thing about that is you lock in 2009 prices and have more time to pay off the vendors. I also found that a few of my vendors did have bookings on that day already....one room in my RH was booked in the middle of 2008!!!

I would do things earlier than later b/c you don't want to miss out on what you really want....there is really no reason to not do it now....

Most people will say 'you have so much time, what's the rush??' Forget them, do what makes you comfortable!!

I'm a holiday weekend, day after New Years, I have all my vendors booked. I got really good deals since its the winter...no one even mentions its a holiday weekend. So I guess it depends....

The only vendor that charged me extra was the RH. The only other vendor that I have booked so far is photography and they did not charge me extra based on the holiday weekend. I would like to book them all in 09 and hopefully get 09 prices.

I will send my save the dates out in October or November of 09

I'm booked on Memorial Day Monday. I'll be sending out STDs a year in advance. I've booked my RH, Photo/Video, gotten wedding dress, and am now working on STDs, invitaitons and DJ. Book early = get better prices.

we are getting married on a holiday weekend ( memorial) , we are still being charged the normal price for a sat night in may , not more or less because of the holiday weekend. i am probably going to send out save the dates aroudn the 1 year mark and i plan on bookin major vendors within the next few months

im getting married on valentines day which is presidents day weekend. the only vendor that it made a difference was the RH and flowers (of course) the RH i think was 5 more a head which was still great with winter prices. flowers surprised me and were pretty reasonable too. As for the STD I am sending mine out this week only because I ran out of supplies for them and had to wait otherwise they would have been out 2 weeks ago. but more then that i think would be over kill

i think it all depends on the vendors and if they want to up the prices because of holidays or not, for the most part i think its just more RH that will up the prices

It depends if you're not picky on your hall, and you've got you can plan a wedding really quickly. If you book your wedding less than 6 months in advance on a holiday weekend you may be able to get a really good deal at the RH (if they haven't already booked, chances are they won't... so they'll offer it to you for less). I'm not sure how that would go for other vendors, and I could never do it without stressing myself out completely so we didn't try.

I will probably start looking at djs in the next month or so...did anyone book with fm? The prices seem to be competitive
