vendor question

How many of each vendor did you meet with before you booked? How many do you feel it's necessary to meet with before making a decision? Are there any decisions you feel like you rushed that you regret rushing?

I have now met with 3 photographers and we have 1 that we like... I have another appointment tomorrow, so that will be 4. My mom was saying that we should book the guy we liked asap, so he doesn't get booked up for our day by someone else. I'm just concerned that we will rush this and make a mistake by not giving it enough time.

With halls we saw only 3 and made a decision... and then ended up regretting it, cancelling, and looking more, and finding something lightyears better. I don't want to make the same mistake again...

Here is what we did.....

Halls---we saw 4 before we picked the fifth one....actually went there knowing we we gonna book it.
Photographer---only one...we saw his work before, he did a friends and knew we wanted him
DJ--we saw 3 before we decided on the 1st one we met with
Video-we saw one and booked


It all depends, you really shouldnt see more then like 3-4 because then you are gonna make yourself crazy trying to remember all the good and bad points of each.....

Let me tell you I did the same thing. Walked in every place with a little notebook. My FH at first laughed at me but then realized it was a good idea.

14 halls!! UGH!!!!!

at least 10 photographers. at least 10 bands.

I was a little anal.

Halls - 25
Florists - 14
Photographers - 7
Limos - 4
DOC - 4
Video - 3 (not including photographers that also did video)
DJ - 1

Halls- about 7 (we wound up booking the 2nd one we saw)
DJ- 1
Florist- 1
Photographers- about 14
Videographer- 1
Makeup- 2
Hair- 1

Sometimes you just 'know' right away and sometimes you keep looking until it feels right. I say go with your gut- its usually right!
Lots of researching on here helps cut down the amount of vendors you need to go to.

Good luck! Oh and btw- I took notes with my little notebook too, so you're not crazy!

All I've done so far is halls- I looked at way too many- 17.

Hoepfully the rest of the decisions will be easier!

Halls - 10 and booked the last one
Photographers - 4 and booked the 3rd
DJs - 4 and booked the last one
Hair - Saw 1 and booked
Makeup - Saw 1 and booked, but had other minor trials which only cemented my decision
Limos - 3 booked the last one (one who is very popular on here was a no show at the appt!)
Florist - Went to 1 and booked, then months later cancelled and booked the next person I met.
Videographer - Well that was taken care of for me, so I didn't have to shop around, but from what I can tell, I should be happy!!!

Sometimes you just know. We both had to agree on any vendor we booked. If either one of us was not happy, we kept looking. Also don't ever go on just price alone. I made that mistake with my florist.
