Vendor Rant!!!!
Ok this may be a lil long but here goes...She deserves it!!
Soooo...my mom wanted to begin looking for a dress! I was happy to hear because like myself she is on the larger end of the plus size spectrum. I knew dress shopping would be difficult for her and I was in a way dreading the whole process. Anyway after talking to a few people we decided to go to a dress shop in Merrick, Queen of Hearts that touts itself on catering to plus size women. My mom called on Friday to check hours and to find out what size they carried up to. She told the women very specifically her height, weight and clothing size! She also said that she wanted something pretty and sparkly not frumpy 90 year old lady dresses. The women on the phone said no problem come on in we have dresses on the rack in your size. We made a 12:00 appt on Sunday and were very excited.
Now, mind you we arent the type to be in denial about our size! I know my size and so does she and we are very open about it! Don't try to put me in an 18...it ain't gonna fit!
So Sunday we show up there at 11:50 and we wait...and wait...and wait on a bench outside in the cold. Finally someone opens the door at 12:30!!!
no apology.. nothing. So we go in, Mom tells the girl about the conversation with the woman on the phone and the girl gives her a weird look and says 'Well I can show you what we have in your size' and proceeds to take my Mom to the back corner of the store and show her 3 dresses that were just hideous hefty bag looking things. My mom points to a rack of pretty sparkly ball gowns and the girl says' let me call the owner and see what size those come in' she wanders off. She comes back and says those dresses only go up to a 22..ummm..no good. She pulls another dress of the rack and says we can custom order this for you but its $2000....
WHAT!! My wedding gown wasn't even that much!
So my Mom is now fuming and the owner strolls in..it is now 1:15! She doesn't even smile or say anything to us, she starts talking about us like we can't hear her in her tiny hole in the wall store. We walk over and all she says is 'I heard your conversation with Rose the other day and she did not tell you we had Trina dresses in your size' Nasty nasty nasty!!! We didn't even say anything about designers or anything to the woman on the phone! My jaw dropped..so now she is calling us liars. I wanted to slap the snotty stuck up look off her face!! My Mom had some choice words for her and we left!
It was everything I didn't want it to be for my Mom. She was so upset!! This woman was the rudest b**ch I have run into in a while...It was just such a terrible experience. We ended up going to Davids and my Mom found a beautiful gown (one of 5 she was able to try on) and it was only $140!
I know this was a reallllly long post but if any of you have a larger plus size MOB or MOG....DO NOT GO to this place or they may end up leaving in tears or worse wearing a frumpy hefty bag dress that costs them $500-$1000!
Thanks for listening ladies!
