I just had a very bad experience at a dress store that I guess I should not name. It's in Glen Cove or Glen Head on 107. The name of the shop starts with an 'I.' Here's the whole story: I'm a BM in my friend's wedding on August 6. We ordered our BM dresses back in January. I was measured at the dress store and I made the mistake of not asking them what size they were ordering me. The day they measured me I was shopping for my wedding dress (thank GOD I didn't get it there!) so I was kinda distracted. In normal clothes I wear a size 6, but in BM dresses I usually get a 10. The sample dress was a size 10 and it fit pretty well. It just would have needed to be taken in a little bit. The very next day Kleinfeld's ordered my wedding dress in a size 10. So I go there two weeks ago for the fitting. They ordered me a size 6. I could not even get it on! So they tell the bride that they will 'get' a new one. I go there today and they had put in a new panel in the skirt part. It fit great now and needed to be taken in a little bit. I go to pay for the alterations and they wanted to charge me $20 for the extra panel they had to get. I said that they ordered the wrong size so I should not have to pay for that. The owner herself measured me again (just bust and waist) and insisted that I still measure a size 6. HELLO!!! The 6 DID NOT FIT!!! I kept on saying that, but she insisted that's the size I am in Lazaro's book and they've been in business 20+ years and this has never happened. Maybe if she had measured my hips and/or thighs she would see that there is no way I'm a 6 in that dress. So I refused to pay it. It's only $20, but it's the principal. She said to have the bride call her, so I went out in the parking lot and called the bride, who called them right away and the owner would not speak to her. The woman who answered the phone said to call the owner about it tomorrow. The bride is livid. She has 6 BMs spending $240 each on the dress. 5 of us are spending $50+ on alterations and her mom bought a very nice pricey gown there as well. I cannot believe they are fighting us over $20 when it is clearly their mistake. I did not gain any weight since January. If anything, I lost because I still had my 'holiday' weight on in January.
I would highly recommend that you all stay away from this salon!! If you can't figure out the name, fm me.

OMG SUSAN ... I KNEW this wasn't going to be smooth sailing! UGH, I cannot believe how rude they were to you! This is insane!! You know my dress still didn't fit on Saturday right? What is wrong with them????????

Uh-oh...I'm VERY nervous now. I ordered my dress and my BM dresses from there and they are all Lazaro...
Sorry you had to go through this experience. Hopefully it will work out when the bride speaks to the owner tomorrow.

I heard you had a problem too Lisa. She was such a biatch. She kept insisting that I AM a size 6. WHY DIDN'T IT FIT ME THEN?!?!?!?!?
Ugh! Hopefully Andrea will get through to her tomorrow. It gives me some satisfation that I posted this anyway!

Hopefully she ordered them the correct sizes. Then you should not have a problem (I hope!)

We'll see..one of my BM's just told me this week that she is pregnant! At the very least this should be interesting...

Another reason why I am eternally grateful to Netbride! I would go crazy with these nutty bridal salons- I know what they pull- I worked in one in college!

I believe I know of the shop you are speaking of does it begin with an I end with an N and rhyme with shaman? I have heard of many problems with them and they have tons of complaints with the BBB. You should not have to pay for their mistake...

I would totally add another complaint against them. I wouldnt pay the 20 either, it is their mistake. I would threaten going to BBB if they dont fix the problem. Maybe you wont have to pay if a little bit of scare is put into them. I hope this works out for you!

Don't worry about the PG BM. One of my friends got a BM dress at the same store and ended up being PG after they ordered the dress and they did work it out. The dress looked beautiful. So I guess that store is not terrible. They are just being azzes about the $20 and keep insisting that it's MY fault that I measure a size 6 but it doesn't fit.
