vendor rant/mini rave
i just wanted to let you ladies know about my experience with the lynbrook bridal center. i ordered my dress there in december of 2006 and it came in may of this year. my first fitting was the end of june, which i am glad for, because it took about 9 tries to get it right!
6/30 - first fitting went well
9/8 - second fitting, bustle wasn't done, and some more needed to be taken in in the waist
9/18 - bustle had wrong color buttons sewn in, and seams on the bust were uneven and lumpy.
9/25 - bustle done nicely, seams on bust were horrific looking. there were lumps and pockets of fabric on either side of the seams and they didn't fit me at all. they insisted that i come in during the day (so i had to leave work early) so the seamstress, Connie, could see it for herself.
9/28 - Connie looks at dress and states that she knows/understands what i am talking about, and promises to fix it. i am very upset at this point, and the owner, Rose, suggests adding spaghetti straps, which seem to help pull the dress up and smooth things out. i agree, and i am glad i did. (Rose does offer to let me pick out a sample dress to wear instead at no extra cost, which is nice but not what i wanted.)
10/1 - dress is not done well at all. in fact, it looks worse than before. i am beside myself - my wedding is 6 days away!! they try to make me come back on thursday because Connie has to leave and cannot work on my dress and they are closed on wednesdays. again, i have left work early to be here! i throw a fit and tell them i am not leaving without my dress. they agree to get another seamstress, Maria, to come in (i think she works part time there) and i come back at 6pm. she arrives at 6:15pm, sees me in the dress, and tells me to come back at 8:30pm. i do, and it's STILL NOT RIGHT! she finally suggests taking in the bust to see if that will work. i cry and tell them they are getting a bad review on LIW![]()
and tell them i am never coming back into their store.
10/4 - my mom picks up the finished dress. she says it looks fine. i refuse to look at it until sunday.
10/7 - dress looks great. thank god!
throughout the whole process they kept telling me that the bust was supposed to look that way, and each time i would make them drag out the sample and show them that see, the sample doesn't look that way.
most of the staff there is fairly nice, especially Carmella, and their prices are good, but the way i was treated - they were nasty to me when i suggested that they didn't do a good job on the dress - was unacceptable. i understand everyone has their own experiences but i would never recommend them to anyone.
