I just had to share my excitement with how wonderful of an experience I had with Travel Tom. Thank you to the girls that posted about him, because he has been so great to work with from the very start.
I had no idea where to begin, especially with a certain budget in mind and we knew that we wanted something different from anywhere we have been before. Tom knows so much, very knowledgable, very thorough, and really steered us in the right direction. Our first conversation was such a nice introduction and his goal was to really find us the perfect honeymoon spot on everything we are looking for. After our first conversation, he came back with 3 destinations to choose from.
We knew we wanted something different, but something romantic, fun, and entertaining. Tom found us the perfect spot!
We will be spending 7 nights/8 days in Costa Rica! We will be staying at the Paradisus Playa Conchal in their Imperial Romance Bali Suite, part of the Royal Service Suites. He said he always sends honeymooners to Royal Service, which is what he likes to call pampering, we even have our own butler. The best part, the resort is All-Inclusive! Which is so nice, especially after the costs of the wedding. There is so much to do there, casino, spa, golf course, nightclub, shows at night with dancers & musicians, we are very excited!
We would never of found this place if it wasn't for Tom! He even sent us a listing of all tours/excursions and what is so nice is that he set's everything up for us, he even will have someone greet us at the hotel to take us to these tours and bring us back. FH was very concerned about the safety, and it gave him a peace of mind knowing that we will be very well taken care of. As Tom mentioned, we are hand held through everything!
For those that are still deciding about your honeymoon, defenitly reach out to him! He is worth the phone call & e-mail.
If you need his contact information or have any questions, send me FM!

So happy to hear that! Thank you!! It looks wonderful. I love that we have so many options and there is so much to do there. At first, FH said he just wanted to relax, but what is nice we have options. I know us and after 4 days of jut relaxing, we are going to start to get bored. So, this place for us seems perefct!

Re: VENDOR RAVE - Honeymoon!!!
Yay! I used Travel Tom too. By the time I had found out about him, I had done all of the work and research so we just used him to book it. We wanted the American Express trip insurance because you get money back if for some reason you need to cancel. Well.... months later, I had called him about something with our trip and he said oh by the way I rebooked your trip and got you $920 back because our hotel was having a sale! What!?!!?!? I was super excited so he def. exceeded my expecatations for sure!

he doesn't charge anything. I am assuming he makes commission off of the trip that he sells. His prices were comparable to what I would find online maybe just slightly higher but you get better trip insurance so you have to weigh the costs. But he is great!

Re: VENDOR RAVE - Honeymoon!!!
please FM me his info too. We have used the same travel agent for almost 10 yrs but might need to switch. We had inquired about destination weddings at a few hotels we had been to and she said would get back to me in a week. Thats was 4 months ago and i still haven't heard back. Too late now..... Even though she was awesome and gave us great recommendations i don't know if we will use her ever again but i's like to meet with Tom.... Thanks

Re: VENDOR RAVE - Honeymoon!!!
Tom also came back and said you know what, I found a cheaper flight for you, so we ended up saving a few hundred dollars, I was even more excited!
I can't say enough about him!
Yes, we bought the insurance so in any event we can cancel at any time, with no questions asked!
Also, I am so happy that Tom is affiliated with American Express travel, which is so great! I din't realize all the advantages. I believe they find the best deals or discounts.
As per someone's question on commission, I am pretty sure he mentioned that he does not work off of commission.
Prior to him I was working with 2 other travel agents, and I felt like all they were trying to do was make a sale and didn't care too much with our honeymoon in making it perfect. With Tom, complete opposite!

Re: VENDOR RAVE - Honeymoon!!!
Congrats on booking your honeymoon and finding Travel Tom! I've heard great reviews on here about him, people rave! We actually just honeymooned at Paradisus Playa Conchal for 7 nights this past June. We spent the first 4 nights in Disneyworld at the Polynesian and then the last 7 nights in Costa Rica. My SIL's MOH actually had her destination wedding there last year as well! We wanted something reasonably priced that was all-inclusive, and to be able to really relax. I found Paradisus online and didn't book with a travel agent. I booked online, and didn't book Royal Service, because I wanted to upgrade when we got there. We ended up upgrading to Royal Service upon arrival for much less then I had been quoted online ($40 per day per person, and online it was $100 per day per person). You'll be really glad you're doing the Royal. It's a private pool area, no children allowed. Much much nicer than the regular area, and perfect for tanning all day! The pool and the beach were the best part.
For the beach you have to walk through a flea market to get onto the beach. You will be approached by locals selling tours, excursions, and other souvenirs. You should look for Carlos and book the tours with him. They are MUCH cheaper than the tours offered in the Royal Service lounge. I'm Argentinian so I speak fluent Spanish which was really helpful, so we weren't really bothered by anything there, but a lot of the American honeymooners were not thrilled by walking through the flea market and all the locals approaching you. We had no issues. When you get on the beach right there it is really pebbly and terrible. However if you walk to the left like half a mile down, it's like white sand amazing beaches. If you walk to the right it's black sand beaches which are cool to explore but dirty to lay in. We went horseback riding down there and that was awesome. We didn't do the rainforest tour because it was far and expensive, and I was getting over being sick so we passed on that. The waters are crystal clear blue water, absolutely gorgeous. I wish we had found the nice beach earlier!!
Make sure you lock up all your valuables in the room safe every time you leave the room. I read some really awful reviews on Trip Advisor of theft in the rooms, so we just put our ipods, laptop, video cam, and all in the safe every single time and we were fine.
It was our first all inclusive, so we weren't sure what to expect with the food. We personally aren't picky at all, we eat everything, but we eat good food and have high food quality standards. That being said the food was mediocre at best. However, MOST of the other honeymooners LOVED the food, so I think it really depends what you are used to. The Gabi Club was my favorite for breakfast and dinner. The Asian is a MUST DO if you like Asian food. They have Chinese and Japanese, sushi, tempura...It was really good actually! I think I ordered all the right stuff haha. Remember to keep ordering when you find something you like. The portions are small and you can order 4 appetizers to try! At the Asian place they make a flaming hot cocoa or coffee! They come to your table and put liquor on it and it's really cool! The casino is one small room, pretty lame. We weren't interested in the shows so I can't give you an honest review, but what we saw walking through looked fun for the people there.
One of the best parts was the wildlife! There are like DOZENS of GIANT iguanas roaming free all over the resort!!! They were SOOO cool!! There were also crazy rainforest squirrels and birds, and little stray kitties. The kitties were sad though, they were starving and should have been more taken care of or taken away. Some of the other guests were kicking and abusing the kittens and I got really upset and freaked out. All in all it was awesome and you will have an amazing honeymoon!!! It is sooo relaxing and gorgeous there!!! FM me if you have any specific questions!! If you're flying into Liberia don't freak out that the airport is a barn hehe.
ETA: OMG!!!!! We are date twins!!!! How crazy!!! Same wedding date a year later same honeymoon!!!!! WOW!!!!
