Vendor raves - hair and makeup
I already wrote a lengthy and detailed review for the current LIW makeup contest with Jacqueline Nicole Cosmetics, but I also wanted to post something here because hair and makeup seem to come up so often lately. I haven't had many hair and makeup trials, but my recent hair and makeup experiences were awesome, so I just wanted to take a minute to recommend both of these ladies.
On 7/13, I had a hair and makeup trial with Kim Castro in Bellmore. Kim is awesome--super bubbly and just fun. She has a real excitement for what she does and is willing to spend a ton of time experimenting with different looks for your hair. I told her I was going for 1940's glam and I think she nailed it (pics in my album). I am very sensitive about my hair because it's thin and frizzes easily and it's too short to really make a decent up-do with. Kim painstakingly put in 10 of the 12 wefts of extension I brought with me to the trial and they made such an enormous difference. Kim even put some powder at my hairline to make it look thicker. She just went above and beyond and made me feel glamorous. She said she's in the process of opening her own salon, so I can FM you her number and pricing if you'd like to check her out. BTW--Kim did my makeup too and it looked great. But, because it's looking like I'm going to have at least 6 people who want hair and makeup now, I'd rather have one person do hair and one do makeup. Kim is definitely my hair girl!
Yesterday, I went for the free trial with Jacqueline Nicole Cosmetics and she was just awesome! She also spent a tremendous amount of time with me (almost 2 hours--because we chatted and tried a few different looks) and provided the lashes--even though it was a free trial. I wasn't expecting that kind of attention from someone I wasn't even paying! During the trial, I heard Jacqueline's cell phone ringing off the hooks with calls and texts. Like, seriously, her phone was blowing up. Since I am nosy, I asked what kind of response she was getting from the LIW contest and she said it's been crazy and a little overwhelming. In just the few days since the free trial post went up, she's gotten almost 50 people who want an appointment. When I had originally texted her to set up the trial, she wasn't very quick with a reply text and now I understand why. She responds to phone calls and texts in between doing trials and makeup appointments. So, if you have contacted her and not received an immediate reply, don't worry! I just thought I would share that because I know I was a little concerned when I didn't get an immediate reply. But now it makes sense.
I really hope this helps someone. I always feel like everyone on here has researched so much more than I have and knows infinitely more about All Things Wedding, so I get excited when I can actually share my experience or any small knowledge I may have.
I am thrilled that I can finally check hair and makeup off my list and move on to my dress and videography and the gazillion other things I need to do in the next 7 months! :)
