Vendors

Is anyone using personal referrals as their vendors? A few of my friends who recently got married have had some amaaazing photos, videos and make-up. I've never thought about non LIW vendors though.. Has anyone else?

If you think a friend/family vendor is amazing, then go for it! It's better than taking a chance on vendors that you have never worked with or seen their work.

ETA: I will prob use my FSIL's DJ... we had so much fun and the dance floor was packed all night

All of the vendors ive met with are LIW vendors.. but the photographer i met with was bc my brother was going to use him (called off the wedding) and really liked him and his work.

Having met with only LIW vendors, I really like the idea that they all know the RHs in the area and have worked with them. But, there's a dj that I've heard play at the Swan Club for a birthday party and the same dj played at Jericho Terrace for a wedding...non LIW vendor. I reeeaallly like them.

Go a see them. I pick my photo and video because of 2008 bride. Then I notice many 2009 use him too. Did you do a search and see if another brides liked them. I was surpise how many brides like the Coral House because they are not popular but that doesn't mean they are not good.

I've kept in mind that a lot of brides in their review have said something to the effect of... don't take LIW as gospel, there are a lot of good vendors out there who just happen to not be on this site! and its so true. I mean, not every bride getting married stumbles onto this site, there are more than a handful of reputable vendors for each category, and even good LIW vendors don't always make the cut (AKA Gina)....
