Since my wedding isnt till 2013, when should I start making appts for vendors such as florist, DJ's, photographer?

Right now were looking into photo and videos and also confirming what are dj can do for us. (FH is a dj so we known before we were engaged who we wanted.) We want to have photo and video booked by the summer and then probably florist and limos. Not sure have not gotten that far! lol
I am still looking for a RH. I think I might personally try to book that this year and then other things next year. For some reason I get nervous in this economy to put a deposit down on some things. If the company has been around for a while I hope nothing bad can happen but I still get nervous (I am alittle narotic). However, the 2011 pricing sounds like a good incentive to start early.
I figured i'm going to get my photographer out of the way next. It's something that's really important to me. I was told very popular photographers get booked over a year in advance. I have a few in mind that I wanted to check out so within the next month or two I will start making appointments. I think i'll start talking to dj's by the fall and florists by next spring. I'm hoping to have mostly everything booked when i'm a year out so I can be stress free leading up to the wedding.
i am going to book the house DJ at my RH. SC has plasma tvs we can use... soooo, i want to book DJ during summer so I def have them. Once I find out from them exactly what my photographer would need for zap photos, i will know what to look for. Aside from DJ and then photographer, I prob wont book anyone else til the one year mark or less

Well i started b/c some places will give you 2011 prices and i want to get it over and done with...its better off too b/c if you book now you have 2 years to pay it off...i know im starting early but i would just like to relax and have fun..and knowing that i found everything is great..and the best part is you get first pick LOL....and alot of vendors are telling me that its good that im starting early too![]()

Well, we already booked the biggest vendor (the Rh!) and now were on the hunt for the DJ. We're about 95% sure that were going to go with our house DJ, but i still want to see a few others just to get price quotes. I hope to have that booked within the next few months or so. Then i figure we will start looking at video/photo, but my mom and dad have a friend that we will prob be using.
Those are the big ones, i think everything else can wait.
I called a few of my RH house florists last week, and when I told them I wasn't getting married till 2013, 2 out of 3 were VERY hesitant on making an appt with me. One florist told me to get in touch next year..I was a little upset about that.

Yea that happened with a limo place...i was like then fine its okay ..i understand you dont want my business....tell you one thing if they dont want to make an appts. with me ..see yea....but i wont deal wtih that crap...besides that ive been to alot of places and they said its great im doing it early ...
we have enough time to be picky! i feel like if I'm not treated like a bride, i dont need you! (thats sounds very bridezilla-ish, i know, but i refuse to get stressed or upset by any vendor!)
Wow! That's insane! I guess if you know exactly which vendor you want, book it so you're not disappointed. Stupid question-but does anyone know what most vendors do for payments? Like is it monthly, or half up front or what?

Haha! Trying to be organized! I would like the wedding to be paid for beforehand, just starting to freak a little about budget. Once RH is half paid it will be easier to throw money to the other vendors
