vendors - just silly

vendors - just silly

i've been calling around just to get price quotes for various things (limos, photography, etc.) and when I tell them the wedding date it is usually followed by them saying 'wow you still have plenty of time' but then... they check their book and find out they are already booked for that day or the limo I want is already booked for that day. so, i really don't have as much time as they think i do. it just seems silly because they probably get calls all the time for weddings that are more then a year away but they just assume I am a lunatic for looking around so early

I was trying on my dress and one of the girls in the shop said 'isn't it a little early for '08 brides?' My sister heard and said that bride is my sister and the shop girl just said oh, ha ha.

I guess it depends on the vendor, some vendors I speak to have the that's so great that you're planning early response while others have the you are one crazy bridezilla to be planning this early response. I tell them the story of how I got turned away from duet because all 4 of their photography teams were booked for my wedding date that is over a year and a half away, then they understand.

i was turned down by duet too... last month. apparently they we're totally booked. over a year and 9 months in advance! crazy.

when i was calling bridal stores to find the dress i wanted i got pretty much the same thing from all of them 'wow you have so much time' until I called lillettes and the woman actually said 'why do you have to buy your dress so early' but she didn't say it in a nice way at all. so frustrating.

yes well personally I think something shady is going on and they're lying. It seems to be around our dates that they're mysteriously all booked for weddings that are a little less than 2 years away

i was thinking something like that too... but then i saw a bride on here that actually had them booked for my day (they still have 3 other teams though). I just don't get it.

I'm booked with Duet for August 1st, they seem very popular

i went to try on dresses and they actually told me that because my wedding wasn't until '08 that i could only try on 3 dresses, when there was no limit for '07 brides.

i was really annoyed. i got her to let me try on 6...she was really rude and was rushing me in and out of the dresses the entire time.

Funny, you think these people are in business to sell their services...

I actually said that to a random limo company that refused to talk to me about booking. They were so f*&^%$! rude. And I'm getting married Memorial Day Weekend!!

Re: vendors - just silly

I admit we have a ton of time and I knew that when i started to book things a year and four months in advance. But what i waned to do and i am sure all of us wanted to do was to make sure our basics that we knew we wanted was booked. I wanted the hall and photographer done right away because those are the two things to get booked up for your date. I found both vendors were easy to deal with this in regard to being so early.

Everywhere else though said i was insane to book or look so early. I kinda understand now because as next week is my one year mark i realized that by the time it gets to the 7-6 month marker I will have nothing to do but sit and count down. That is why I am refused to look at my last vendor, flowers till may and if i do a limo i would wait till september anyway to do that.

I am going dress LOOKING in April and i refuse to buy anything unless its like a thats it feeling.

BUT what i don't like is vendors as stated above saying or limiting you to what you can do. You want my money??? then sell me your services don't push me off till a later time.

Re: vendors - just silly

I went to see a couple different limo places last night and I told 2 of the companies what a big deal serenity made about me trying to book so early (they are the ones that made the big deal and then the escalade wasn't even available for my wedding day). The one guy told me that it is because serenity doesn't actually own the escalade they work with another limo company that subcontracts it to them. I still don't understand why the woman felt she had to comment about how much time I have but, oh well. I am just getting tired of hearing about how much time I have.

We don't have plenty of time if we want to keep our options open. The longer we wait.. the less options we have. I don't know why some of these vendors don't realize that.

I'm gonna write a letter 'Dear Mr. Vendor, I am so friggan pissed...'
