Vendors that want payment in full before wedding day

I am just curious whether other vendors want payment in full before the wedding day.

So far the limo company wants payment in full 10 days before and so does the band. Has anyone else found this to be the case? Is this now the norm?

I always thought there should be a balance paid on the day to these vendors. They could just run away with the $$$,

I don't pay contractors that work on the house before they do their work.

Anyone?

Are you paying your wedding vendors the enitre bill BEFORE the wedding day? (Particularly the limo and band)

OR

Paying a balance ON the wedding day?

Re: Vendors that want payment in full before wedding day

I have made a deposit to all my Vendors. The final balances are due on all of them before the wedding day except for my Photo/Video. We don't pay the final balance until we pick up our proofs.

Re: Vendors that want payment in full before wedding day

A lot of vendors don't like to bother you on the day of with payment. You have so much going on, it's one less thing to worry about.

You shouldn't have a problem with them running off with your money because you signed contracts and you have to put faith in your vendors.

Also, too many vendors get burned by people not paying them in time, and they show up to the wedding and don't get paid in full for their time. (if they leave a balance due afterward)

Re: Vendors that want payment in full before wedding day

The hall, flowers, dj all are being paid in full prior to the date.

I agree it is nerve wrecking. Esp with DJ, what if they do not show up??? you basically have no recourse.

Re: Vendors that want payment in full before wedding day

OK so I am not as worried now.

Thank you all for reponding.

I see that it varies depending on the vendors and type of vendors. It is less of a headache not to have to worry about paying them, as long as they all show up and do what ha been promised.

When I got married the first time, the limo balance was due on the day of. They sent a smaller limo than contracted for and we were able to handle the price reduction right then and there. If the limo isn't right this time I don't know if it would be so easy to get the partial refund. But I guess there is always small claims court if the vendor isn't equitable.
