Feed them....at the reception, your photographer, DJ, Videograhper, etc... I know my hall gives 1/2 off for the vendors when you meet your minimum, I was wondering if I should not include them in the count and then if I have no shows, they could have the plate...Not sure, my cousin just got married and she told me she only fed her vendors at cocktail hour, is that tacky or not...Help.... TIA

Re: Vendors..Do you.....
not a 100% sure on this on my viedo, it was in the contract (or we talked about it) that they get a plate.
i think its more of the vendors that are with you all day that you have to be concerned with. and i also believe when a vendor eats, half price, its no considered part of head count
hope this helps

At Villas, they said I could use the vendors as part of the head count if I am coming up short on the minimum # of people I need to have.

Re: Vendors..Do you.....
I have a bit of frustration on this subject. i know some of the vendors are with you the entire day. however I do not get my lunch paid for me when i am at work. why do i have to pay for all of my vendors to eat???????? dont want to start drama but i really need a good explanation for this. They are not going to be drinking alchohol either... so really you know they are probably sick of wedding food anyway dont you think?????? Am i the only one who thinks like this???? lets say i have my photo/video there assitants, my dj and mc okay that is like 6 more people. and I cant even think of the people who have like 10 pc bands.....
sorry small vent and again dont want to start drama. this is JMO.

It's okay, get your vent on, just want to hear everyone's comments on this topic, not sure what to do, but you do make sense Princess Consuela...

Re: Vendors..Do you.....
I agree entirely with princessconsuela.
Yet here is my theory. I want to treat my photographer and videographer the best. I want them fed, content, and motivated to do above and beyond. Same goes with my DJ. All together it will be 5 vendors. I have to speak to my hall and work something out with them as far as prices. As ridiculous as it is with all the money we are already paying for their services, I wouldn't want to not feed them, and them be bitter about it and do an average job when they can really do a good job because they want to. That's just IMO..

Re: Vendors..Do you.....
it was not in the any contract except for the video guy to feed them...the band said that they were there to work (only playing for 5 hrs...) then everyone got there and wanted something to eat (even though I saw them at the cocktail table) so my Dad made the executive decision to feed them (which was great) and they were sooo happy...so I would spend the extra $ and make them happy - My dad just put it on his C. Card when the wedding was over.

I agree on the vent, BUT
I fed them to make them hapy and want to do a good job for my wedding. They were half price and they ate in another room so it wasn't too bad.

I think its reasonable to give your vendors a meal (not necessarily the food your guests will eating) simply because they don't have the option to go elsewhere during the course of their work. If you are having a band or DJ i would want them to have enough energy to last the entire night and that can only be gotten through food. They don't have the option of running out to Wendy's if they get hungry! (and I know I would pass out if I had to go even 3 hours w/o eating!) If your hall doesn't provide your vendors with either a discounted or free meal, I would bring that up with your hall ASAP!
