Veneer?

Veneer looks like wood. It's made to look like wood when in reality it's wood over MDF (I forget what MFD means, but it's that pressed wood stuff. A lot of stuff from Ikea is MDF with wood veneer to make it look like it is real wood.)

Buying something that has a veneer may not be as good a quality as something that is all wood.

Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) i learned something in kitchen design school lol

Actually, venner IS real wood. It is a thin layer of a nicer wood over a substrate like, lets say, plywood. Lots of furniture is made with veneer, even very expensive furniture.

It just isn't all one hardwood material all the way through.
