Venetian theme, I know nothing!

Hello I don't know if you can help me and maybe I'm in the wrong place here. I am researching for a degree in design and floristry and my current assignment is to plan a wedding. I have to create a 'make believe' wedding. I have chosen to do a Venetian themed wedding and taken that a step further by making my pretend couple Italian. Should my couple be Jewish or Catholic? I am finding it quite difficult to find informative websites or books about religion and culture for Italian weddings. I know so very little about both the Italian culture and the two religions, which is why I think it's a good area for me to work on and broaden my knowledge. the varied cultured traditions and religous beliefs. I have to use a local venue in my assignment so that retricts me to England. I would greatly appreciate any ideas/opinions/advice regarding customs and traditions, books to read or contacts you may be able to give me. It's prodimanantly the flowers and flower trends I am interested in, however I also have to look at the culture, traditions, dress/cake designers, dresses, transport etc

well...an Italian couple would most likey be Catholic. I am half italian so I can try to help. The only little traditional things i can think of are the giving of jordan almonds with the favor...but this has nothing to do with flowers...sorry!

i dont think theres a specific flower trend when it comes to Italian weddings. Brides whether they are italian, asian, spanish and so on go by what they like as far as flowers. Ive gone to many italian weddings and have seen many brides on here whom are Italian and none of them stuck to a specific theme with flowers. So i would go more with flowers that simply would go with a venetian themed wedding. So basically just what flowers go best with the decor of a venetian wedding. Such as the gold stands for the flowers.

Theres other italian traditions, but more about things they do at their wedding. Such as certain dances, certain superstitions, things in regards to family.

ETA: anything else you need to know, i would just ask specific questions so you can get more answers. We dont know exactly what about transport you want to know, what about flowers, is it just looks and trends, prices and so on.
