Venetian Yacht Club or Watermill?

Venetian Yacht Club or Watermill?

Hi ladies! I am recently engaged, and new to this site. I wanted to ask for some advice. We have picked a date, and have looked into a few different places for our reception. We basically narrowed it down to either The Venetian Yacht Club in Babylon, or The Watermill in Smithtown. Both places had a lot to offer, but we are still confused! HELP!!! We loved the way the Venetian looked during the day time, (beautiful view) but their day time reception starts at 1:00, which means an early church, and many girls getting up extra early for hair and makeup. Does anyone know how it is at night?, or have any pictures from a night time wedding?

Any thoughts on the Watermill?? We loved it there as well, but we found it odd that their bar in the room we would be using is almost in another room set back through a different doorway. We don’t want people having to ask where the bar is because it isn’t in sight….Any thoughts?

Thank you!!!

I haven't been to a wedding at either, but checked both out as possibilities. Honestly, I absolutely loved the watermill...from when we drove into the parking lot, to when we walked in the door, all the way up to them feeding me fresh mozarella...just for visiting. It was a bit pricey, but I would have booked with them if they could have fit us.

VYC, I think I had high expectations because I absolutely love the pictures they have in bridal magazines, but was slightly disappointed when I got there. Hands down, my choice would be watermill. But it's really dependent on what you liked more, what works with your budget, etc. About the bar....I've been to weddings where it's sort of out of view (culturally, it's preferred that way for us)...and trust me, people who want to find it, will Good luck!

I had it down to these two as well when I was choosing. I decided that I liked the more open feel of VYC. I like windows and having the outside a part of the decor......so I went with Venetian. I'm also marrying an italian and needed a big italian menu (other than villa's where everyone in his family had gotten married...) Both are beautiful!

i've been to weddings at both. Both are beautiful, however 2 completely different looks. if i had to choose i'd pick Watermill. It had a more cozy feel to it and the service and food were excellent! And as for the bar being almost in another room, believe me no one thought twice about it. Besides the waiters came around so much, most people didnt even get their own

My friends had their reception at the Watermill last summer and the CH outside was really nice. The garden area in the back was beautiful and they had a ton of food. I agree with you about the bar being in another room...at their wedding a lot of people (guys) tended to hang out in the bar room and not mingle with the rest of the guests as much.

The Venetian is also very nice for a day wedding. The windows and the view are amazing. Since the Watermill doesn't have comparable windows or a view, that might be a plus for the Venetian, depending on your priorities.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either place, it just depends on which one feels better for you two. Good luck!

The seperate bar thing at the watermill isnt really a bad thing. I think its pretty neat that it is off the the side this way you dont have a whole cluster of people in the middle or the side or wherever in the room. Plus its nice because the bar is a real bar, like built in. Not one on wheels in the back of the room somewhere. But again, its totally up to you guys! (btw, not bias or anything bc im getting married there LOL). THis is such an exciting time just look around and dont rush into anything.

Congrats on starting this process, its such a blast!!!

Re: Venetian Yacht Club or Watermill?

We just recently went to a wedding at the watermill and had an amazing time. The place was absolutely beautiful and I actually liked the bar being in a spearate room. It gave us room to gather for a drink without bothering guests at their tables or on the dance floor.

FOOD WAS AMAZING!!!! And the way the waiters came out serving the food was pretty neat.

Sorry, I've never been to a wedding at the Venetian

Good Luck

I checked out both places when I was booking a hall and I have been to a wedding at the Watermill. Both are very nice places, but I went with the Venetian. FH and I really wanted to get married near the water and we thought the views were great. Plus we really were extremely happy with all that the VYC had to offer and so far have had an incredible experience with them. They have been really easy to work with and have been very quick to respond to any questions I might have.

watermill but i an biased. I am getting married at the Watermill but I did check out the VTC I ust wasnt sure how I felt with having another wedding at the same time. I like the fact that the Watermill stagger it so you shouldnt have to see the other wedding or their guests in the bathroom being over crowded. Plus I loved the wood and just about everything Watermill.. Ok enough talking from me
