venitian Plastering

venitian Plastering

It's not as easy as it sounded to me...
It's a lot of work for anyone that's been thinking of it.
We are doing our livingroom - I'd say it takes 3 x's the amount of time it would take to just paint the room. However, when it's all said and done I'll let you know if it's worth the trouble... it will be a couple of days.
Someone wrote that they thougt it was expensive -
The cost is about 40.00 a gallon and you need a lot of it.

I did it to my kitchen last year and it was worth every effort and time! You will love it and although it was very time consuming, it is easy in the sense that you don't have to be perfect.

What color are you doing? I did a pale yellow- tuscan like!

Me too... I am doing the same color - but they did have a darker looking yellow so I bought that one too... however, that color turned out to me more rust than yellow. So we are doing the lighter one... so far it looks nice but I do think it's a lot of work. We don't have smooth walls so it's taking a long time to get it looking shiny.
Do you have a picture of yours?
Your like me with the paint - the strips, the plastering... have you tried any of the others? We also did the rag rolling and suede.

I guess that makes you my painting twin! We also tried the darker yellow first, but it came out looking like american cheese- yuck- stuck all over our walls. We then decided to go with the lighter yellow and love it. The guy at Home Dept. said that they probably didnt mix the darker yellow right, but we were too afraid of it coming out the same way.

So far we have only done the stripping, the plastering and I had tried the Ralph Lauren sand wash- but I want to redo it- it came out uneven. I wanted to do the suede, but a friend of mine tried it and said that it came out like someone spread s hi t all over her walls and she redid it. (sorry if that was a bit graphic).

Since I have the day off b/c of the snow, I will take a pic of my kitchen and try to post it.

ETA- pics! ( I hope )

They are kind of dark, but you get the idea of the stripping in our bedroom. We still have to do moulding, window treatment and get our good furnature (still have the hand me down free furnature from a friend- not for long though!!!) I will post kitchen pics later on.

PS~ how do you make the pics bigger????
