FH is pissing me off!! we are trying to pick songs for the wedding and of course we have COMPLETELY different taste! i want the music to be up beat so people will want to dance. i dont want them sitting around looking bored. hes into rock , but not the kind you can dance to. He thinks we have to play his whole ITunes play list!!! AHHHHHHHHHH this sux!!!!

my ffil apparemtly has a thing for doo wop, and my fh thniks he's going to do a 30 minute set of doo wop.. uh NO.. i dont think so.. i told him he can get 4 songs.. back to back during the cocktail.. at the BEGINNING of the cocktail hour.. lol. before people come..

When you give your list to the DJ they will definitely recommend songs and if they feel you are choosing too much of a type of song they will bring it to your attention. Don't worry you guys will end up compromising

you have plenty of time to come to an agreement...
I want a lot of 70s funk and soul, FH wants more top 40, I plan on giving my DJ a list that we both want and a list that I want... just kidding, I'm sure you guys will meet in the middle somewhere....

uh my fh is like that too..but i guess to a point bc i think he realizes that noone is going to dance to his music, and to make the wedding fun everyones gotta be up and dancing..have him make a list of his favorites and u make a list of your favorites and theyll play his music during CH or dinner, or other parts that people wont be dancing...and theyll play yours when people want to dance

OMG- My sister let my BIL have 'the beautiful peple' at their wedding- THAT'S IT....lol
I have a huge sheet from our dj- i have to find a way to scan it. It has a list of songs from each decade. We (we meaning'I') will pich some and have them play some from each decade- some more than others. And, no- Marilyn Manson is not on my list. My GH is a sting, rolling stones kinda guy so we will be ok...lol

I feel you pain as well!!! FH loves The doors and swears that our wedding song is going to be Indian Summer. Helllll no!!!!!!

there will definitely be both at my reception. you just gotta find the right songs but i'm also having them play all of the participation songs. i love watching my drunken uncles do the chicken dance. there is always room for compromise when it comes to music.
2 of our band members actually toured with Herman's Hermits and one or two played with the Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees as well so we'll also make sure they play a bit of the old stuff. Our parents and older guests will really appreciate it.
I can imagine the frustration you're dealing with though. Perhaps you could each pick 5 songs that you HAVE to have played. And neither of you can veto the other's songs. and then work on the rest of the list?

my ffil loves doo wop too.. so we are making sure we play a few songs for him.. but since every guest isnt a doo woop fan it will really only be a FEW ..lol. But thank god FH has the same musical tastes as me.. So he's pretty easy when it comes to this stuff

lol I had this same exact problem a few months ago. I eventually got my way. people want to dance and have fun! they want club type music. not rock! though some rock is okay. it was one of our biggest arguements though. I love Maroon5, he loves kiss.
