VENT!!!

OK- I have to vent about this. One of my BMs is getting married 3/8... Her shower was just last weekend.. (yes, the saturday before my wedding). I've been gratious through out the entire process...

her mother is from he**!!! We had the shower planned for the 18th, she said she had to go skiing that weekend (hello- she has an ski apartment, she can ski anytime!) So we changed it.

We were going to do an entertainment/stock-the-bar theme since my BM always entertains and she hated it.. so the poor kid had no wishing well! I was going to make the favors (yes, make 80 of them even though I'm getting married this Friday)- cute martini glasses with a drink recipe and a mini-bottle of liquor.. but no- that wasn't good enough.. she HAD to have CDs.

Now I get an email from the MOH saying that the Cds were $500 to make (a f-ing SHOWER FAVOR)... this is on top of the gifts ($100 each girl) and the shower... I don't understand why we weren't told before they were made. The favors I was going to do would've been $3/each.. !!!!

I cannot afford this! I have my own wedding expenses.. my BM spent about $200 towards my shower.. this is ridiculous.

Oh my God - its beginnning to look like FMIL-zilla fever here too . JK ( I posted problems with mothers earlier)

Is this woman nuts? If she is so gung ho about the CD favors, let her spring for them. Are you in a position to tell her where to go ?

Who the hell does cd favors for a shower?

Make her pay for them....give her exactly how much you were going to spend on the favors, and tell her you can't spend anymore because you didn't budget for that ridiculousness! Do not back down!

I don't know what she is going to say.. not to mention the 25th was supposed to be the date of my bachelorette party.. it was all planned. then my BM got engaged and i told her MOH to call my MOH to coordinate the dates.. this never happened.. so of course we had to change the bachelorette.. this made it so that HALF OF MY FRIENDS COULDN'T EVEN COME..

then- her mother says- why don't you have your bachelorette after the shower & you can all go out together?

Honestly you have every right to be upset. Tell the MOH that you wished you had been told ahead of time, but with your wedding in only 1 week there is no way you can give more money towards the shower. If you had been asked ahead of time, you could have planned for the expense or told the girls you couldn't afford it.
Why is she soooo involved in the planning?

her MOM IS PSYCHO.

She asked us what we were doing for a gift and we told her since we were paying for the shower that we were going to probably spend about $60 a girl.. as you see I bought more anyway.

She called up the MOH and CRIED how WE DON'T CARE ABOUT HER DAUGHTER.. and told us we should BUY HER A KING SIZE SLEIGH BED!!!!!

Ohhh Sazzy I'm soo sorry. You don't need this stress 3 days before your wedding! I too think your idea was very original and much better then a CD. It's a SHOWER! Sheesh...that's really ridiculous . Tell her you can not afford it and that's that. If she wants a sleigh bed for her daughter she can buy it!

I can't wait to hear all the details from your wedding! When are you getting back from your HM??

YAY! I can't wait! You are going to come back all nice and tan! I'm jealous!

If I were you I wouldn't even deal with this right now. You have three days left!!!!!!! Forget about everything and don't stress! (...and I like your idea better too...)

BTW- I went to B&N and they have some really good low-carb cook books.. my post marriage resolution is to start cooking more diverse LC foods and bringing lunch instead of buying :)

That sux!! I wouldn't pay..If they want $ they should have asked prior to spending it.

On another note....my mom had cd favors made for my shower and did not ask for one penny from anyone.

***!!!!! Sassy, it's clear her mother is a psycho. Give what you originally budgeted for and that's that. You have a wedding too.

Put it b/h you, this MOH should food the difference if she was not upfront about the cost. Who told her to go ahead and spend that? And the MOB has GOT to be kidding ... a sleigh bed?! Most people have about enough $$$ to cover their wedding expenses incurred in just being in the wedding! Some nerve!

I think if this lady wants CD's as favors - well, then she can foot the bill. She would've been better off burning them herself - it couldn't cost that much.
This lady is totally nutz - I'm so sorry you have to deal with, especially now, when you have so much to do for yourself.

I have never heard something so nuts. How can she demand what the bridal party gets as a gift and then back door you with the CD favors. And why on earth are they $500? They can be done at home for a fraction of that cost.

I would tell her that you dont have an extra couple of hundred dollars now that its a couple of days before the wedding.
