vent!

vent!

can any tell me how they would handle this: and sorry, this is long and i'll try not to make it confusing....

we reserved a block of rooms at a hotel for our out of town guests. most of which were happy to reserve a room, etc. no problem there. apparently, some of our friends/family that live HERE also wanted a room. no problem there either. i had reserved enough rooms for everyone and then some! the hold-date has since passed and so now the rooms that were held at the lower rate have been released to the general public.

okay, here's where it gets more confusing: the hotel manager mentioned that IF we booked enough rooms/and enough people were interested (15 to be exact) the hotel would 'give' us a shuttle to and from the wedding/reception site. for free. HOWEVER, if we didn't book enough rooms/and not enough people were interested, we could still rent a shuttle for a fee of $500 - $800. all well and good, if i were made of money, but alas, i'm NOT! so anyway, one of our guests missed the deadline, but called hotels out east and found a room, and got them to honor our original reserved room rate. cool. BUT THEN also got the hotel to agree to reroute our shuttle (which at this point doesn't exist) to their OTHER hotel on the way to the reception. ... as in, wants to take the shuttle we can't afford to rent and reroute it to their hotel too and already arranged this with the manager... PS, this person lives here, isn't out of town and isn't even staying at the hotel we originally reserved.

am i nuts to be beyond annoyed? and well, seriously, i'm beside myself... can someone just give me some clarity or opinions here. like i need more stress. now i have to worry that everyone staying at the hotel is counting on a shuttle, and i simply don't have the money to rent one. especially since even the actual OOT guests will have cars that day and plenty of people for rides as well... as in, they can get around JUST FINE. ... i hope this makes sense because i need to know how to handle this...

Re: vent!

I would be SOOOOOOOOOOO pissed!

I would contact the person that A) didn't book the room on time in the correct hotel and B) had the balls to make a deal with the manager to re-route a shuttle and overstep you....I would call that person and tell them that there is no shuttle and unless you can afford to pay the $500-$800 fee for the shuttle you will have to arrange for your own transportation. For all of your other guests at the correct hotel...I would let them know that there is no shuttle and make sure they have directions to the RH.

did the person know you didn't plan on getting the shuttle? it may be more the hotels fault if they said or implied that you had booked the shuttle...i would be more pissed at the hotel for agreeing to the arrangements without checking with you first.

Re: vent!

let me see if i got this: a guest booked a room at a diff hotel than the one you booked and worked it out with the hotel manager there that they will be picked up by the shuttle you don't really have? and they did all of this without talking to you about it first? how did they even know a shuttle existed?

I would be pretty PO'd!!!!!!!!!! And especially bc they aren't even OOTers!!!

ugh, so yes, this guest did in fact do all this without even consulting me or anything. i called the hotel manager a few minutes ago and she said that whoever this guest spoke to only probably suggested the shuttle as a possibility and they won't reroute anything without my direct permission. so that made me feel MUCH better, because i was also POd at the hotel...but i'm still aggravated at this guest for the gigantic you-know-what's to even think that'd be okay with me. anyway, i'll have to email this guest back now and explain, in as diplomatic a way as possible that there isn't a shuttle and if there is, it won't be rerouted. period. i just really appreciate your feedback. i really really needed to know that I'M not the one that's NUTS! thanks!

WHHHHHHHHHHHATTTTTTTTTTTTTT

I CANT BELIEVE THE UTTER NERVES OF SOME PEOPLE... First off the manager shouldnt even have agreed to that being that the guest is nobody.. and should have consulted with the person who signed the contract. I would call and rant to the manager and make him/her call that guest and explain their will be no shuttle.

unbelievable!

that was me last night! i was literally speechless (which doesn't happen often!)... i just gave the manager of OUR hotel stern directions that no one makes decisions without me, not no body, not no how! not even FH! omg, i sound so bridezilla right now!

Okay, since the Hotel Manager obviously knew you hadn't met your min. for the free shuttle and you hadn't paid $500-$800 for one, why the heck would they even mention it to the guest? I would tell the hotel manager they put you in a tough spot and they need to fix it by providing the shuttle free of charge. Why would they mention it to any guest if it wasn't happening?!? It almost sounds like they were trying to make you feel obligated, but maybe I'm looking at this wrong.

And your guest is a total NUT for calling the hotel they are NOT staying at to ask such a thing? Please tell me this same person is not your lurker
