Vent

Vent

I haven't even been engaged very long, and my mother is already giving me grief.

We are planning to have the ceremony at the reception hall (FH was married once before and never got an annullment). Now my mother is harping on the fact that I will not be able to have a rehearsal dinner because technically there is no rehearsal. I told her lots of people get married at the hall, and I think they all have some sort of dinner to thank the families and bridal party and give them gifts. She is very critical of FH's family (mind you, they have not met yet), and she says they are very traditional (which they are), and that they will not pay for a dinner 'just for my bridal party.'

For those of you who have gotten married at the hall, and for those of you planning to, what did did you/are you going to do?

Im getting married at my hall and we are having a rehersal dinner even though there is no rehersal. I kind of changed the name to a 'thank you' dinner. Its a chance for everyone to get together and just relax and have a good time before the wedding after all the planning we all are going through, and a chance for both families to hangout and get to know each other. I havent decided where it will be or any other details but this is what I decided I wanted

Hey -

We did have a rehearsal at our hall! It's not 'typical' I guess but you can certainly arrange to have it done. We had it two days before our wedding and then we had a lovely dinner out with our family and BP. So it can certainly be done.

Good luck and sorry you're going through some family drama!

We had a rehearsal dinner, and rehearsed really quick. The dinner was not at our venue, it was somewhere else, but they had an empty room and we discussed it in advance. So bridal party came at 6, everyone else at 6:30

I will be having everyone meet at the RH so they can see the place and the room where the ceremony will be in. That way they have an idea of what´s going on. Then we´ll briefly discuss things and go out to dinner. AT least that´s what I´m thinking right now.

We did a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. We didn't have an actual rehearsal since we got married at the hall. It was our chance to give out gifts to our parents and the bridal party. It was really fun! ILs paid for it.

I was in a wedding where they got married at the hall (hotel) and we had a rehearsal and then dinner at the hotal in a private room. I also went to a RD that there was no actual rehearsal and they just had a BBQ in the parents backyard.
