FMIL has always said she wanted to go shopping for her dress with me and my mom (my mom also hasnt gotten a dress). She watches her grandson on Saturdays and Sundays and doesn't seem to want to tell my nephews mom that a particular Saturday isnt good for her so we could go shopping. I'm also feeling concerned about my bridal shower and the wedding. I feel like she is unwilling to say anything to her and might not come to my shower because of it. FH and I had agreed that our nephew wasnt invited to the wedding. He will just be turning one when we get married and we want FMIL and FFIL to be able to enjoy the wedding and not be stuck sitting down all night. FH tells me not to worry about it, that it will work out. He said to just go shopping without her. But back when I was looking for my dress, her feelings got hurt because I didnt invite her along.
FMIL and I generally get along very well, and I have no problems at all spending time with her. Prior to her babysitting, we used to spend most weekends together going shopping and stuff.

Re: Vent....
I would pick a day, let her know, and if she comes she comes. At least you did your part inviting her and offered to help her look for a dress. If she declines, then it is up to her to find the time and invite you.

Re: Vent....
I would set a day like a month from now and tell her that is when you would like for everyone to go shopping if she decides not to come that is on her. I'm sorry, this situation stinks

Re: Vent....
I spoke to FH about it again. He said hes going to talk to her, but that at this point I cant keep waiting and to just go with my mom. That I've given her more than enough time to decide what shes going to do. It's sad because I never pictured it this way, but I guess its the way its going to be.

I agree with the girls above. Just tell her 'Listen, my mom and I are going _______. I would love for you to come!' If she i babysitting or can't make it tell her to let you know when she can and you will join her, but you and your mom are going _____.
Make it like 2 weeks or more from now to give her some time to change her schedule.

Well I think your mom should def have her dress first before your FMIL gets hers or even looks. Once she does then you need to tell her that this is when we're going and she needs to work around you. Otherwise then she has to do it on her own. She should be working around your schedule not the other way around. You're a busy person too JMO HTH
