Ok ladies, this is happening recently, and its annoying me
Lately a lot of my friends, and even FH's family, have been asking me if I have any doubts, if I really want to marry him, am I sure i am not making a mistake. I am not sure why so many people are coming to me with this (2 of my BM, 2 of our GM, his mom).
Is it that they dont trust my judgment? I know his faults, and i know they are part of what makes him him. or is it a sign that there will be problems later on?
Its starting to annoy me, and really hurt both me and FH, and is affecting our relationships with these people.
Anyone else getting this?

Re: Vent and advice
You have to think of this two different ways ...
Maybe they know something you dont .... SORRY i dont wanna put anything in ur mind but why would so many people ask that ?
ON THE FLIP SIDE
Some people just dont know how to be happy for you ... ESPECIALLY if they arent ...
As for his mom shes probably scared ur taking away her lil boy
BTW -PEOPLE TELL ME THE SAME THING BECUZ MY FH IS JEWISH THEY SAY DUMB THINGS LIKE
OMG IS HIS FAMILY OK WITH THIS .... AND I SIMPLY REPLY WITH IM NOT MARRYING HIS FAMILY AND I HONESTLY CAN CARE LESS IF THEY DO OR THEY DONT !!!
ETA: WE ARE HERE FROM YOU !!!1

Dont worry sweethart!!! I get this all day everyday from everyone I meet... People just want what they think is the best for you and they will say stupid things that come out totally wrong...but they say them out of love. Your friends/family are always going to want what is best for you no matter what, so of course they are going to ask you are you sure this is what you want. Just keep telling them it is what you want and that they need to respect your decision. (what i always throw in as a response is, if you really think i am making a mistake then let me make it and learn from it myself...)
love you babe!! keep your chin up!!

Well this is a tough one. I think its one of those things only you can answer. You know him best, you love him, your going to be his wife, so as long as you trust yourself and know your making the best decision for you, then forget what everyone else says.

My favorite response is 'I'll give it the consideration it deserves' and then walk away. Works like a charm. They'll get the hint.

Soo sorry that you are going through with this
I agree with Christine, you know him and you love him. Go with what you think, trust yourself

Re: Vent and advice
I can see both sides of the coin here:
Before I met FH I had a boyfriend we'll call him Dan (that was his name). Dan and I were together for 5.5 years. We fit together, we had a good time, he was generally decent for most of our relationship and I really thought he'd tie up some loose ends and get it together and marry me. EVERYONE (and I mean EVERYONE) I met thought this was the wrong person for me. I defended my decision to be with him several times a day, and never regretted a minute of it, but it just didn't work out. My friends and family were right in this instance, but after about a year or so, they just stepped back and were happy for me.
Second side of the coin:
With FH I get NONE of that except from people who are. jealous. Seriously, people that ask me if I'm making the right decision are usually the people who are bitter that they are:
1. alone 2 just broke up 3. are all high and mighty about the 'old fashioned institute of marriage' and how it's a big old sham.
And a wise friend once said to me 'If it feels right, do it.' So, if this feels right, and you're happy... go on with your bad self, girl.
You'll know when it's not right, just like I did with Dan... and as long as you think it's right... That's all that matters.

Re: Vent and advice
I understand your frustration.
I get the you are too young criticism from everyone including some fellow brides (not our group). Rather than defend my reasoning I just state that I am smart enough to attend an Ivy League university and that every decision that I make is an informed one. (That really gets them). First of all my friends nor my family can tell me $hit, I've been dating Fh for 4 years now way before I ever met them and none of my friends have even made it to an year and my family well, most are on their third marriage.
You know what in your heart and alternatively what FH feels for you, don't let the haters comments get to you.

People are just sooooo nervy sometimes. They open they're mouths and the garbage just spews out! Don't let them bother you. You seem like a very smart woman thats capable of making you're own desicions.
Its not like ANY ONE of us here is rushing into anything!!!!!!! WE'RE ALL GETTING MARRIED IN 2010 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!

I am sure they are just looking out for your well being but ultimately, its your life and its your decision! If you are happy, then thats all that matters!

Re: Vent and advice
I'm sure they're just looking out for you. Especially, with the divorce rate so high. If it bothers you (which I know it would bother me) as much as you say it does, tell them you appreciate their concern but you're old enough to make your own decisions.
You know whats best for you!
