Vent and Forget it
This has been bugging me since Sunday - so I have to vent and get it out and then I can think about more positive things.
I am SO FRUSTRATED WITH FH's FAMILY! Most of them anyway.
First and BIGGEST reason is his brother. His brother lives in Texas and told his mom that he couldn't afford to come up for the wedding. He never bothered to send a response card - but hey whatev. She offered to pay for his ticket - but he just couldn't make it. Okay - you don't have money or you are too proud - whatever. I can let that go. So PS - we go to his parent's for dinner and they are like 'Guess what! Paul is going to come home for a week! He will be here April 16th through the 20th!'
Okay... so our wedding is MAY 5th. That is 2 weeks after he is here. I was a little stunned and I asked his mom why he couldn't take his vacation the week of the wedding instead of 2 weeks before. She said 'Oh well he manages 2 departments at Lowe's down there and he has to take the vacations when they give them.'
So listen - my first job out of college was in retail management. And YES they can be a little weird about when you take vacations. But if you say 'Hey listen, my bro is getting married in May and I would really like to be there...' they WILL accomodate you. Plus - according to his mother - they just LOVE him there.
What this says to me is that the wedding is NOT important to his brother and moreover I think it is a total slap in the face to come 2 weeks before the wedding and not to the wedding. It is sending a clear message that we don't rate.
The kicker? His dad and mom say 'Well he isn't going to be here on Sunday when you guys come, so you should stop by during the week so you can see him and so he can see the boys.' EXCUSE ME? Not only is he coming up 2 weeks before the wedding - but they expect us to drop everything during the week to go and see him. They can sh*t in a hat as far as I am concerned.
The SECOND thing I am pissed about is the RD. I wanted a Fiesta theme. I am crazy about mexican and spanish food - plus I am born on cinqo de Mayo and my birthday is that same day. So I was planning to have the rehearsal at a Mexican restaurant. FFIL tells me that he doesn't eat Spanish food. I am like - 'You can't find SOMETHING that you like?' And he is like 'Nope'. Okay.... so I drop the fiesta idea and continue to look and I find The Gatsby. I go there on Sunday and I tell them Mexican is out and we are probably going to go with The Gatsby. Well guess what? He has been there and doesn't like it. Then he proceeds to say 'Well why do I have to go? What do I have to rehearse?' So I say AGAIN 'You are one of the ONLY living parents that we have. We would like you there, that's all.' So FMIL says 'Well we can go and then not eat.' I am so disgusted. WHAT THE F*CK is the point of that?? At this point I am just going to call off the RD altogether and give BP gifts individually during the week. Way to really piss on a parade.
Vent over. We may now resume normally scheduled wedding planning and rejoicing.
Thanks for listening girls! It really feels good to get that off my chest!![]()
