Vent and Photographer Question...HELP!
Yesterday started out great...we ordered BM and MOH dresses!
However, I go to charge my cell last night and notice that there was a message from the photographer we were going to book on Monday. As a prelude, let me tell you about FIL's...they are very sweet to me, but feel that because they have 3 other children who are married (the last wedding was 11 YEARS AGO), they are the bona fide wedding experts (mind you that they live in last century with the technology of 1980). When it comes to this wedding, I am at my wits end with them. I have been second guessed on EVERYTHING by FMIL (not even MOB!) So here is what happened...we had appointments for the photog and dj last thurs, but had to cancel because I came down with pinkeye (diagnosed that afternoon). We were at FIL's because they are insisting on coming with us to the DJ and photog by default, even though that was to be up to us. Needless to say, when I called and cancelled with photog, FIL's said that they had one question...turns out that one question became the grand inquisition (FFIL repeating ten times..Who will hold the lights? Who will hold the lights!). Nicely, photog reiterated everything he told me when we met and I fell in love with his work (also he would be the one photographing the wedding and he was willing to go wherever we wanted to document our day at no extra cost). Well FMIL quizzed him on his experience, asked him if he ever did a Jewish wedding (after he told her that he was in business 17 years) and basically told him that there was no way that he would get to us on time, even though he said he would do what we asked. She then ranted about pics of the guests (I personally am not paying that kind of money for thousands of pics full of people I don't know). So after 15 minutes of this (I had to walk out of the room because I was fuming)...we reschedule for this upcoming Monday. Fast forward to last night. I get a long message from photog saying that he knew we wanted to book, but he made a business decision not to do our wedding because FIL's made him very uncomfortable and he has a reputation on the line (mind you the DJ told us he was booking a longer time slot w/us because of them!) and they refused to listen to what he does and he doesn't want to dissapoint them. So, now, with 4 months to go, I am back to square one. I am a trial attorney and my next 2 months are looking terrible work wise. FH just promised me that the next photographer will be booked by us without his parents knowing (as that was supposed to be up to us, which she told me after the conversation where she said she was dissapointed). Why does what I want as the BRIDE not count? She had her damn wedding! I want mine..and I have been comprimising left and right because I understand FIL's are contributing the bulk of the money, but why do I have to be second guessed constantly?
Anyway, any recommendations for a photographer in the 3500 price range? We were hoping for two photographers willing to work, not charge us extra for going to my house and the CH and maybe one more place, not charge extra for photographing the morning and the whole wedding, and experienced (I don't want to be suprised the morning of the wedding with someone I never met).... HEEELLLPPPP!!!!
