Vent - Bad Review for Our Engagement Party Band!
Our engagement party is this weekend and our band basically just canceled on us!
We wanted to confirm today because we haven't heard from them and our contract said they'd reach out to us a week before to finalize a play list. So we email them...
First they said, we never signed and gave back the contract. So we forwarded them the email and they write back 'oh ok,just found it'. Then they said, we didnt provide the address of the party (which was clearly written in the body of the email as instructed by them). Then they said, that they've implemented a new policy and we would be required to pay in full before they show up to our party (BIG RED FLAG!). This was not part of our contract and as with any vendor, we paid a deposit and owed a balance to be paid the day of. He wanted us to fill out an authorization form which authorized his 'other' business (some cycling company) to debit the fund. We told him we were not comfortable with the terms of the 'new' contract and we would pay cash the day of as originally planned. He said there is nothing he can do and suggested WE cancel and forfeit our deposit if we do not want to pay him in advance. So it gets better, I started to look on gigmasters for a new band to fill in. I contacted one and explained to him why we are reaching out last minute and he told us that that same band just contacted him to possibly 'cover' for them for a party they had scheduled on Saturday i.e. our party!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!
So now, we out a deposit but FH is filing a claim against them ASAP. Thankfully, it was only $200.
Just be warned do not book with the 'Groove Guru's' aka GCarmelo Enterprises band leader William J. OShaughnessy. Horrible man & Horrible business practices! So unprofessional, I can't believe this happened 4 days before our party!!!!!!!!
