Hey girls - I brought this up about a month ago. I was having major problems with FH's sister who lives in Ireland. It came to a head 2 days ago, or so I thought. She screamed at FH on the phone for about 2 hours. He was pretty calm and laid it on the line, but he finally broke. He started screaming at her and they ended with basically no relationship. Well she launched yet another attack on me today. And this one was fierce. (It was the final straw in an 8 month attack on me - mind you she has never met me only spoken to me on the phone) I lost it and asked her to please stay out of my life. Well now she is non-stop texting FH about how 'it' (me) is awful, manipulative and psycho. Girls - I'm probably one of the most laid back people ever. I never fight with people, I just kinda go through life happy and such.... Anyway - basically he was like awesome don't come, neither of us want you there, etc. etc. But I still feel really crappy. I don't know what to do. (She has no relationship with any of the other in-laws. She hates everyone! I'm just the newest) She constantly says to FH he shouldn't marry me, that I'm spending to much on the wedding (I'm trying for the $35K-40K budget for about 225 guests - let's be honest - that is good for LI), that I'm manipulative....
I just don't know what to think. At this point we are obviously not sending her an invite. Oh after seeing a picture of my mom at another wedding - she said she'd throw paint on her if she wore fur to our wedding - HAVE YOU EVER? Am I crazy?????

I am always for keeping peace with the in-laws. However, you mentioned that she is like this with everyone so I wouldn't take it personally. Plus, she is in Ireland so it's not like you have to deal with her all the time. How to the other relatives that are on her sh*t list deal with her? Have you talked to them about it?

I don't think that you are crazy by any means!!! There must be something wrong with her! I don't understand why she would bring your mom into the mix. Maybe she just wants to get a reaction out of you and FH? this is a tough one
My mom gave me advice because I am having FIL issues none of which pertain to having my FSIL yell at me when I haven't met her. But i've had to hold my tongue a number of times. My mom said just listen to what they have to say and ignore it don't say anything and it will make things a lot easier. Maybe you could ask FH (if you dont' know) how come she doesn't talk to your FIL's or you could ask them why?

Thanks girls, I just needed to get myself in check. She is still texting me things like you are a liar, manipulator, my brother will see through you and you'll be a terrible wife and even worse mother?
***? Seriously - I'm not even sure why she is texting me anymore - no idea why I'm a liar or manipulator?!?!? I mean seriously!
Yeah - allegedly serving meat and wearing fur (possibly by some older relatives of mine) are too much for her to bear. Now I have vegan friends that will be there and they are like - its your wedding!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! The comment that she made of my mom alone I would beat her. I dont think you are overracting. You say that she doesnt have a relationship with anyone else so its not you. What do his parents say about this?

It's clear that she has serious mental issues & you seem like a stable enough person to not even comprehend what the hell she is talking about. #1 your mother....whaaaaaat is she crazy...well no we have already determined that she is #2 attacking you & your mothering skills...she's a loon. You have your FH's full support....I know it's hard but ignore her..you can only stoop to her level at this point...you took the high road. Yuck...i'm so disgusted by her.

Oh that is probably why she behaves this way! So sad, they should stick together being that the parents passes away. Does he have any other siblings? What do they think. She sounds like a nightmare

He is one of 8. I've met all the boys, just not the 2 girls. (Mind you they are like 35+ years old) The other sister is soooo super sweet and darling - I've met her husband a few times when he was over here for work.
I think everyone just placates her and lets her misbehave. It seems someone is always the object of her wrath.
I talked to FH, he basically said she'll never change, he has no problem cutting her out totally and moving on. Easy for me I guess. I'm trying to delete the texts/emails without reading them!!
