VENT im so mad at my mom

ok so usually when i bring up stuff that I wanna do that aren't necessarily things ppl USED to do, or something my mom did, she gets so annoyed and doesn't even wanna hear it and makes me feel stupid or like im BOTHERING her!!!!!!! ITS SO AGGRAVATING I WANT TO CURSE HER OUT BUT I CANT!!!

i want to decorate the bathroom, LIKE MOST PPL RIGHT????????????????? but instead of with flowers, w/seashells!!!

FMIL has beautiful large conch shells that she said we can use, and i want to order these bamboo baskets that are decorated with shells for the bathroom to put the toiletries in

soooooooooooo i call my mom n start telling her about certain ideas n she gets all pissy telling me, 'since when do u have to decorate the bathroom???' n giving me an attitude.......

IM SO MAD right now cuz its like ANYTHING i want to do or talk about that she doesn't, she has to act like im a nuisance and it really bothers me.

so i told her from now on, anything that she isn't directly involved in or paying for im doing without showing/telling her!

I totally know what you mean this sounds exactly like my mom. I'm almost pretty grateful FH and I are paying for everything ourselves bc so far we just have to consult each other and then tell the families after we've booked something if even. I almost always get that reaction from my mother it's like she prepares herself to feel that way before I even say anything, hang in there!!!

my mom gets like that too when i tell her certain ideas and she looks at me like i have 10 heads.... now i just dont tell anyone lol, it'll be a surprise for everyone the day of hahahaaa

I have similar issues with my mom. She always complains that I never tell her anything, but when I do tell her something she is confused or has something negative to say about it. Nothing too negative, just enough to be annoying and for me to not want to tell anything!

Hmmm...you know what I am quickly realizing...is that our weddings are going to be MOST important to US. It can seem hurtful at times but the fact is nobody will care about our details as much as we will lol. I had a really rough day on Monday dealing with a similiar situation. Whether its bathrooms, RH's, photographers etc...those things matter only to the bride and maybe if your lucky the groom lol. I agree with the others. I have made a point to leave others out, make my decisions and then if warranted discuss the details with my BM's or Mom. Its easier and less stressful than getting everyone involved.

lol dont tell her anything. its funny cuz u probably throw out ideas and she flips out..then when u do it..shes like WOW its nice! is she like that? cuz thats how my mom is..


its only acceptable if some1 else tells her its OK or if she sees osme1 else doing it. (bubbles instead of rice)


just dont involve her. ur going to be a married lady with ur own place... no need to tell mommy every lil detail. stress free is the way to be..

including her in the plans to put seashells in ur bathroom is not worth the stress or potential wrinkle!

Feel free to vent! For the few months after FH and I got engaged my Mom and I were not getting along...like at all. She hated every idea and thing I wanted to do for the wedding, and if she suggested something and I went with it, then she went back on her suggestion and would say - I don't know if that is such a good idea. ARGHHH! My father was seriously playing mediator between us, it was horrible. Even FH was upset at the situation. Then I realized that FH and I are paying for mostly everything, and I shouldnt have to consult with either of our parents on anything. In a fit of anger one night I had said to my Mom 'If you are going to keep acting like this I don't even want you as a part of assisting with the planning process and I will do it all myself'. Well, that got her attention and now things are MUCH better!

my mom is kinda like that too... if i give an idea that she doesnt like, she puts it down...but then sometimes, after disagreeing she will talk about it like its a good idea... for example...

i once mentioned i didnt want any kids at my wedding.....she flipped out about it & got so pissed....it was mentioned again for awhile...then i mentioned something about kids & she was like 'oh, i think you should consider not having kids at your wedding' .......... w t f????? are you serious??? i said that and you had a breakdown!!!

omg wow its crazy to read that so many ppl are having similar experiences!!!!!

and barb...its so true what u said, at first uplighting was like such a battle, i dragged her to LI Sound showcase to show her, and she LOVES it...

and someone mentioned how certain details only matter to the bride (and groom sometimes) and thats so true too!!! i honestly dont care if ppl dont walk into the bathroom and say 'oh how cute! there are shell baskets, etc' but u know what?? if even ONE person does notice...thats why i put them there!!! id rather have nobody notice than not do anythinng and have someone notice the bathrooms are plain!!!!

its just aggravating because my mom and i are so close, and im an only child, so the norm for us is to tell each other EVERY detail of EVERYTHING so when i do this regarding the wedding its just habit...im gonna have to adjust it!!!

We all must be related lol.

With my mom it's more about me not taking her opinion. When i don't she gets SO pissed off like it's the end of the world and i just killed someone.
