VENT!!! Mother Issues!!!

I'm apologizing in advance for the crazy rant I'm about to go on.

I found my gown in 1 place, after trying on 8 dresses. It took an hour. My mom is driving me nuts with trying to find her dress!!!! She wants to 'sparkle' yet I'm having a somewhat rustic wedding. She's going to look ridiculous with a sparkly dress. She is looking at dresses that cost more than my dress and all my accessories combined!!!!

Why do moms think our weddings are their's??? How do I tell her she can't really sparkle because that is not the theme of the wedding without sounding like a Bridezilla?!?!

I would say that is really appreciate if you stick to the rustic theme of our wedding because something very sparkly will look out of place. And that uoi spent slot of time planning your theme for your wedding and that you would like the whole bridal party and fam to blend well for all the pics

I agree, it won't go with the theme of your wedding and the attention should be on you, not your mom in a sparkly dress. Just be honest with her and explain that the wedding isn't like that and that you would prefer that she chose something more muted and in-keeping with your vision. You are definitely NOT a bridezilla!! This is YOUR special day, not hers.

Crisis averted! A few weeks back we saw a gorgeous dress that we both loved, but of course they didn't have it in her size and they didn't have any on the island. I just called every bloomingdales in america and got the dress!!!!!!!!

Glad it all worked out! I am going to have the same situation with my mom. She constantly sends me emails with dresses for her, yet I haven't even picked my dress yet! She seems receptive when i ask to hold off on her dress until i find mine, she will say OK and then 2 days letter i get a new email with a new dress idea for her!

You guys have to understand us moms are just as excited as you are. From when you are a little girl we think about you getting married. We have all these ideas and then get shot down real quick when you start your own planning. I know its your day but the only thing we have control of is our outfit. People are waiting to see what 'the mom' wears, and we need to be special too. When we push your buttons and get on your nerves we dont mean to steal your thunder we just want our own little rumble. The mom wont ever outshine the bride so dont worry.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer, but I only say this because my parents won't be at my wedding…but I know that if my mom was able to be a part of this special time, she would annoy me lol…but in the end, she wouldn't have ever done anything to take away from our day. So talk to your mom and trust her. She loves you and knows this is a very special day for you :)
