VENT! Pretty long.

VENT! Pretty long.

One of my best friends recently became engaged. I am beyond thrilled for her and her FH and she even asked me to be the MOH. When they first got engaged she informed me that she was shooting for a Fall 2013 wedding and it was going to be in Maine (Both of them are from there). I thought to myself 'this is perfect' we will deal the the stress of planning the rest of my wedding this year, then I can take on MOH duties next year. She has just informed me that she now wants a December 2012 wedding. AHHH!!! I am not one to get angry at something like this. I has nothing to do with the fact that we will be getting married closely together.Or that she is going to be taking away the 'spotlight.' It is the fact that she knows i'm planning my wedding from out of town. Now on top of making sure I have everything ready for October, I need to make sure everything for HER is ready by December.

I feel selfish, but this is a lot of stress. I mean Sept/October is going to be very hectic to begin with. Now I have to plan a Bridal Shower... In Maine?!?! I would and will do anything for this girl, but just thinking about next year puts me on the verge of an anxiety attack.

I didn't really know who else to turn to due to the fact that most of my friends are not engaged/married. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I feel like I need a timeline and calendar for both of our weddings so I can plan accordingly!

In a situation like this you'll need to rely on those that are in Maine to help you whether its her mother or the other BM's. Good news is since you're preparing for your own wedding you are also in a way already preparing for her. Stressful...yes...but try to enjoy this happy time

Re: VENT! Pretty long.

I know how you feel (sort of) because me and my friend are in eachother's wedding parties (bridesmaids not MOH) and our weddings are in NY and Chicago 2 weeks apart!

I can see how it would be a little different being the MOH, but you'll just have to reply on the other BMs and MOB, like a previous poster said.

Is it going to get a little crazy? Yes. But the important part is each of you being a part of each other's special day! I think she will understand if you can't pick up certain duties and vice versa!

So far I have thoroughly enjoyed planning my wedding along side my friend. It's fun to exchange tips, ideas and get opinions. We are doing the best we can to plan to go to eachother's showers/bachlorette and planning way ahead to make sure we are on top of our tasks to be able to do that!

Hope it works out for you!

My MOH is my sister and she lives in California. Most of the bridal party duties have been carried out by the rest of my bridal party who live here in LI. I think you can make it clear to her that with your own wedding nearby and the fact that you live out of town, you'd be happy to be her MOH but will probably be needing alot of help from the girls in Maine. I'm sure she would understand, and would be happy that you still decided to take on the job of MOH.

What doesn't kill you will make you stronger. Just take one thing at a time. You will definitely need a calendar to keep track of everything. Don't be afraid to ask the other BM's for help. You don't have to plan the shower alone.

Thanks for your responses ladies. You are all right, I should just enjoy the time we have planning together, and rely on the help of the other BM.
