Vent (sorry, may be long)

Vent (sorry, may be long)

Has anyone else gotten to the point where planning the wedding just isn't fun anymore?

We have 60 days before the wedding, and as my BM put it, I am fine, FMIL is being a bridezilla. People aren't RSVPing for the shower this weekend, and she wants to know who hasnt rsvpd for the wedding so she can call them. Meanwhile, we are getting rants about why people we have never heard about didnt get an invite (sorry for ranting about her, I really do like my FMIL, and she likes me, but she has no daughters, so in some ways I think she is using our wedding to payback all the people that invited her to their children's weddings)

Looking over our budget, and to be able to afford rent and bills, we may not be able to afford the wedding.... and we are realizing this 60 days before we have to pay everything...

My mother is not able to attend the wedding, she cant get out of bed due to a hip surgery in FEBRUARY that the facilities in FL keep overlooking things, so she has had a foot atrophy, she is in quarintine in the hospital because she has some red splotches on her back they cannot figure out what they are. They have told her that if she tried to come up here for the wedding, it would kill her.

Groomsmen are not going for tux fittings, so every 2 weeks I get a phone call from the Tux place 'Is the wedding still on?'

Thankfully, my BM's are on top of things, and are really supportive.

We have to choose our songs, we need to choose lighting colors, we need to contact teh cantor and priest and finalize details, I am busy at work, stupidly taking a full load of classes this semester and going into exams.

I am just getting so stressed and fed up with this, I want it to be January 18th already. As FH told FMIL 'You are making us want to fly to Vegas and get married by Elvis.'

Sorry for ranting, just getting so overwhelmed and stressed.

Anyone else feel this way? Or am I just nuts?

(please dont quote, will be taking down in case of lurkers)

I feel like wedding planning is a chore sometimes. I have a few appointments coming up with DJs and florists and to be honest, sometimes I just don't feel like going. Wedding planning is like a 2nd job - I already have my plate full with my full time law firm job and my part time job, plus trying to stay up to date with my family and friends! Theres just not enough time in the day to do everything I want to do..

I am shocked I was able to book the RH and photographer/videographer already...I thought I'd be one of those brides who waits until 4-6 months before the wedding to arrange everything.lol

Oh Janna - sorry you're going through this

And just so you don't feel bad (and I'm still 11 months out), I have yet to have any fun planning this.

Hang is there though - Its almost over!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm SO sorry you have to go through all of this!!!

You're def NOT alone on this one! FMIL is one pain in my side with this wedding and sometimes I feel like me planning this wedding (with no help) becomes overwhelming. I just try to look at the big picture and move past it. If the little details don't happen then I'm not going to worry about it. There is no such thing as the 'perfect day' (as my mom calls it) even though we all try really hard to have that. At the end of the day, the important part is to spend life with your FH.

Is there anyone who can help you? You said your BMs are helpful, maybe you can ask them to do some of it. Ask someone if they aren't busy to look up vendors that you might need for lighting or linens or limos, etc and then you can narrow it down to the one you want to use. Maybe that will help a little bit.

As for FMIL, you just have to take control and give her little side projects to do. I had my FMIL go over spelling on the guest list and asked her to contact her parish to find out about something for us. It keeps her involved but doesn't put her in our way.

Good luck sweety!

One day at a time. You certainly do have a lot on your plate. I'll keep your mom in my thoughts & prayers.

I can relate to the shower-thing. Mine is supposed to be a surprise, but my mom keeps asking me about who's coming.

Just remember, when it comes down to it, it's all about you and your FH. Grin and bear it and soon you'll be on your HM!

Janna, I'm really sorry to hear about all this stuff. You've waited so long to marry your FH, keep remembering what the wedding is all about: your marriage. Before you know it the wedding will be over and the best part will begin- your marriage to your soul mate.

I hope things get better from here!

I'm sorry, Janna. Know what? Us meeting up is totally not that important. There's one less thing for you to worry about.

its not the meeting with you stressing me, looking forward to it. Its all the choosing songs, finalizing lighting colors, designing labels and menus, figuring out order of bridal party, coordinating fittings, etc. Looking forward to meeting you and speaking with you!

Part of it is FH doesnt want to think about it right now, but we have to have some of this stuff in by the 30th
