Vent: Stupid Antibiotics!

Grrr.... I gained 3 pounds in the past 10 days cuz those gigantic elephant pills made me EAT like an elephant! I was STARVING constantly!

Just finished them yesterday morning and it's nice to feel human again! ....or at least not like a ravenous wolf! lol

Back to salads for lunch. Need to look good for my epics next weekend!

ugh I hear ya on that. Those steroids are a KILLER! See if you can gradually get off them and onto something else like 6mp. You know I'm the go to girl when it comes to Crohns.

and I hate anti biotics! worst ever1

Angela how long have you been on steroids? I went to a Crohn's conference once and they said you shouldn't stay on them for more than 3 months really. They are killer on your joints! I don't know if you remember but John (my Fh) has Crohn's and he takes 6mps and so far so good.

Angela how long have you been on steroids? I went to a Crohn's conference once and they said you shouldn't stay on them for more than 3 months really. They are killer on your joints! I don't know if you remember but John (my Fh) has Crohn's and he takes 6mps and so far so good.

I was on 60 mgs for over a year. it really screws w your neurological system actually. Drs will leave you on it if you're really inflamed. Their attitude is if it prevents surgery, that's the way to go.

The prob w the 6 mp is that its a chemo drug. Depending on how much hes on, it could be an issue. most Crohns people are on low doses...plus other drugs like Asacol or Colazol.

Once those stop working, drs switch people to diff things like humira, embrel and the iv treatment remicade.

He was on steroids for 8 months because he was highly inflammed but it ended up that he needed surgery regardless. I say it messes up your joints cause that is what happened to him. He had such terrible joint pain. He takes 75mg of the 6mp but that is all he is takingg right now. He also takes probiotics. Yea it really is terrible especially when you are inflammed. I have such empathy for people with it.

thats right erica i forgot!! ahh he said hes gonna try for only a month to leave me on themm but its been a lil more than a week n still blood n all that crap im like ughh please god make it stop!! next week i start the remecade the iv treatment so maybe that will help with it? thankgod i started this after my bday bc i went out im like there is no way i can do that with all this crap in my system it messes with my whole body ! ahh well thanks ladies for the info...im saying my prayers i can slowly get off the steroids!
