So I work for my dad but the oganization isnt doing that well. I dont know what is going to happen bc we are running out of money. There has been talk about no pay for quiet a while. I feel bad being like ok im leaving bc i have been with the company since the beginning, i run the office and i know everything that goes on, but i also cant afford to not make money with the wedding and bills and looking for a house.......
just needed to vent !!
Anyone have any suggestions ?

did u talk to ur dad about it? I am sure he will be ok for u to try and get a job where it pays more, knowing that ur paying for the wedding, starting a life and everything

we talked a lil about it yesterday but it doesnt seem like we are reaching a medium.
i guess he feels i shoul stay and i do its my dad and im comfortsble here, but its not practical and FH says its my decision but he is also worried about the money part

What about maybe a part time job so you can still do both? Either way you definitely need to talk to your dad, I'm sure he will understand

i agree... this would be a good option, suc ks because youd have to work a few more hours but at least youd make some extra money for right now while everythings up in the air

FH has his own business which was started by his father. He went through some somewhat similar issues. They went through some ups and downs through the years and although he didn´t say it at the time, apparently his father wanted to pass the business on to him and that´s why he wanted him to stick it out. I don´t know if that´s the case with you but if it is then you need to see if thats what you want. If you do, then I would stick it out and maybe find a way to get some extra cash on the side.
In FHs case he struggled for a while but then started doing much better. When his father passed on they lost a lot of business and really struggled but now hes doing better than ever. In his case, he really likes it (most days) and likes that it is a family business and thats what drove him to stick with it. (plus at this point its really all he knows) but hes glad he did.

i would start putting your resume out there. if you have a great opportunity, im sure your dad will be behind you
but see what is out there before you make any decisions.

i guess another questin is about the business -- do you see ways that it can be improved? more marketing? different ways to market? incentivizing new customers? return customers?
if there is a way to make it better, maybe you and your dad can talk about those options as well...and if you do leave, at least you will know you gave it your all.

I would say to put your resume out there and see what happens. If you get something promising, it will be easier to talk to your dad about a great opportunity and I'm sure he would support you. Its a nonprofit organization so it depends on sponsorships and stuff, so since the economy is doing bad everyone is being very careful with monies these days

Def talk to you dad about your concerns. Maybe get a part time job while you help your dad? You need to make money somehow to survive. good luck!
