Venting

Venting

I just showed my fmil and fsil my dress. I think they really liked it. But she asks me so many questions and always puts me on the spot. With having a bridal party and bachelorette party. My sister is my moh and she is not going to throw anything. I have no problems with. Its not her thing. But I feel like my fmil looks at me like whats wrong with you and your family. My fh and I just bought a house and have a lot of stuff already. So I don't see the need for a bridal shower. As for a bachelorette party I feel like I will have to plan it because its not my sisters scene and she just told me its tasteless. My bridal party is my fh sisters who don't have money to throw something like that nor do I think they will due to it not being their role per say. I love dancing so should I just plan it myself? I feel like I'll end up paying for it though. I also like the wineries so maybe go out to the wineries? I'm so blah right now. Trying to make everyone happy but I thought it was about me and what fh and I want, no?

I am not having a bridal shower or bachelorette party. I dont want either. Maybe just do a dinner. My MOH is going to take me for a spa day. I'm to low maintenance for all this wedding stuff. Do what makes YOU happy...i learned that months ago that the more i try to please people the more i end up hurt so im doing things the way i want it. I would get your girls together and talk about a night out but in no way but yourself in a situation where you are paying.

You need to do what YOU want to do. If I could plan my bridal shower and bachelorette party myself I would (because I'm that much of a control freak) I know my MOH & BMs just won't allow that haha. BUT I did tell them I want to do a wine tasting tour - my MOH wasn't thrilled and tried to mention other things and I told her NO THIS IS WHAT I WANT. It's YOUR wedding, if you don't want a shower, then don't have one. But if you want to go out for a bachelorette party - DO IT! Tell your BP that this is what you want and whomever comes comes.

Good luck!

Word of advice now, stop overwhelming yourself. One thing at a time. Bridal shower is a few months before your bach party. Try not to personalize other peoples opinions, they are only opinions. Do what feels right to you in your heart, just for today! It'll all be okay. Congrats on the place!

Thanks! I just know that my fmil will question me a million times why I'm not going this or that. Its expensive and I don't expect my sister (MOH) or parents to go through the trouble. I'll talk to my friends and tell them what I want to do and about when and see what happens. Two of my bp don't live local.

I would like to go out dancing. Should I plan it now because my moh isn't?

IMO if you don't want to throw a shower then don't. I honestly think its tacky to throw one if you have a house and have all or almost all you need. As for the Bachelorette Party if you want one go for it. I told my sisters and FH's sisters what I want to do for mine. They can join me or not, but anyone who is is contributing to the cost. Do what makes you happy and maybe have your FH talk to his mom about bringing things up over and over to you if you don't feel comfortable. Good luck and make the most of the process!!

Re: Venting

Great advice and I have talked to fh and he says he has talked to her about it but she does not stop. I always kept my mouth shut out of respect for my fh. I will not anymore. I am doing my best to keep everyone involved. I might end up going out with myself! I have a few friends that would probably go out. We'll see.
