VENTING-friends want to be in wedding party

FH and I asked one of our friends to be the officiant for our wedding (he is ordained and registered) and our other friends got jealous (even through they are in the wedding party!) and were all like you need a 'professional' officiant and another person even told me that I needed pay him at least $1000.00 for performing the ceremony!

Also-we are having a small wedding 65-75 so we couldnt pick all of our friends to be in the wedding party-but again some people are mad that they are not in the wedding party.

I love our freinds and I love that they really excited and helpful but has anyone else dealt with this?

And how can I include them so they dont feel left out?

Thanks!

as far as your girlfriends go why not ask them to help you with DIY items, and maybe handing out programs or something... maybe someone can do a reading or a poem or something

Tell them tough!!! It's your wedding. It sounds rude but you need to please yourself, not others.

Some people need to grow up haha.

If you really want to include them you can have them pass out wedding programs or petal cones or whatever at the ceremony. It sounds like you are having a ceremony at the RH? If you were having a church mass there would be some more opportunities to include them... that is, if you want them to be included!

I had a friend who was upset she wasn't a BM.... she was my old college roomate but we arn't as close anymore. So I asked her to do a reading and she was thrilled!

A few of FH's friends got mad they were not in the wedding party but we told them that we wanted a smaller party.. FH picked 5 guys.. 3 are family and the other two are life long friends. ALl of my girls are family. We kept it to very close friends/ relatives to not upset anyone and still some people felt left out. They got over it though.

they shouldn't be making you feel bad or be stressing you out. don't try to please everyone it'll never happen. and $1000??? we paid like $150 for our officiant. don't let it get to you

I think that's awesome that you have a friend performing the ceremony - how wonderful that you will have someone there that knows the two of you as individuals AND as a couple. Most officiants don't know jack sh!t about the couple that they marry.

As for your friends - my mantra in this process of wedding planning is 'opinions are like @ssholes - everyone has one, and they all stink.'
