hey ladies - i finally made appointments and went to see venues with the fh, but am feeling even more overwhelmed than i was before going! i did so much research online, and read so many of the post on here and used that to narrow my search down.

i went to see coral house, woodbury cc, fox hollow and milleridge. the coral house was very nice, but just very typical in my mind. the woman we spoke to was SO nice and the venue itself was very pretty. i had heard some negative things about past weddings there (probably MANY years ago) but i heard they were under new management and decided to give it a go. the price was reasonable too. it just didn't have that 'wow' factor for me.

then, we went to woodbury cc. the outside is AMAZING. def has the 'wow'. i had been to a wedding there in the past and was floored by the outdoor area. they also offer an after party package which really appealed to the fh haha

then, the foxhollow. i know there are so many fox hollow fans out there but i just didn't like the wedding factory feel. i can see how my wedding would go on without a hitch, but i didn't like the lack of wiggle room. i really thought it was going to be it for me, and i was going to fall for it but it just didn't do it for me. it is stunning visually, but i just didn't love the lack of options.

and then, milleridge. the person we met with was so nice, and just 'real'. he told us about his wedding (which he didn't even do at milleridge) and gave us prices for all different times of the year. he told us about the renovations and what it was going to look like, etc. i loved how big the rooms were, and i think it would be a beautiful wedding (in any season, but especially winter). the guy was amazing and already offered to throw in the Venetian hour haha i think there is so much i could do with the space to make it my own.

im just so TORN over woodbury cc and milleridge. my fh hated the lack of outdoor space at milleridge, but i loved the homey feel. i dont know if i loveddd the inside of woodbury cc, but def loved the outside.

any one thing in particular that helped you decide which venue to go with?

im pretty indecisive as it is, but this is SO HARD! i'm wondering if my lack of opinion is the answer... maybe i don't go with either of them?? my only other plan b is riviera because i've read such great things, but its not big enough for my 175-215 guest list. i really don't even know where else to look!

im so sorry for the long post, and appreciate anyone that actually read this far haha i just feel so torn and needed to vent.

we just got married at the milleridge and it was fantastic. i would make sure you love the inside of your venue more than the outside. if it rains, it won't matter. we worked with melissa, had so much food and everything set up and run as smoothly as we would have hoped. i hope with the group who took over it will be even better. it may not have the traditional outside picture locations, but it has the village we took a ton outside in the back and you couldnt tell you were right on jericho tpk. it was also lit for christmas so it had that ambiance too. we had 197 guests and people commented as to how spacious (but not too spacious) the reception was - no one was crammed. if youd like to see pictures please pm me, wish we could get married there again!

We went with Woodbury CC after looking at 12 venues, including The Riviera!! They gave us a great price for a Sunday evening. I LOVE the outside, and I loved the modern vibe of the room downstairs. I was deciding between Woodbury and Chateau Briand- they had the exact opposite appeal for me- I liked the inside of Chateau but disliked the outside. We had to make peace with the fact that it may rain- I felt that it was a chance worth taking, b/c if I had gone with Chateau and it DIDN'T rain I'd be kicking myself and wishing we went to Woodbury all day, but if it ends up raining I do not think I'll be sad that we aren't at Chateau. The other pros-food, natural lighting, windows, outdoor CC in spite of weather, modern feel with couches in room (which I better not catch anybody sitting on unless they want to get dragged to the dance floor!) seemed to outweigh the con, even though I know it's a big and unpredictable one! I think you just need to go with your gut either way. I was torn like you, but once we made our decision we haven't looked back.

i went to the milleridge also and i have to admit i feel in love and also knowing they were going to renovate me know how much more beautiful it will be.. it deff doest have a big out door like your fiancé said but with the room has such an open feeling with the huge windows i think it depends on what type of look your going for but i always say you should like the room more then outside cocktail hour is only an hour of the day where you wedding in the room is 5

I was at a wedding at milleridge in November and I have to say it was great. The food and service was fabulous. My friend really liked working with them and they were great on prices.

I know what you mean about liking the outside area. I am getting married at Verdi's and I absolutely LOVE the inside but the outside isn't anything to talk about. But you will be inside most of the time so I think you have to really LOVE the inside and the staff.

I was tied between Woodbury CC and CHateau Briand for the same reasons as everyone just about. I liked the outdoors better at WCC and liked the indoors better at CB. I thought about rain, etc. WCC did not have a good view of an indoor wedding and WCC had phenomenal grounds! All in all, we pretty much chose CB because we'll be spending most of our time indoors so that mattered most to us. Additionally, they went down on the price by $10 per person so we went with the venue that worked better with our budget. I plan to book Old Westbury Gardens to take outdoor pics.

Go with ya gut! It's a hard decision (It took me a while to make one) to make but I'm sure whichever decision you make, your wedding will be beautiful!
