vent/panic attack, arguing with mom

i am about to have a huge panic attack.

my dad's car was put under my car insurance policy. my mom is a jerk and she screwed up big time last year with my dad's car insurance. a big mess happened and he had no insurance. so he is on my policy. my dad drives a 1998 pontiac grand am. in insurance years its still considered new.

last year was the first time i ever had insurance so i am considered a risk because, i am female, brand new insurance, under 25 and had my license for 4 years.

my insurance renewal is due Feb 7 but it has to be in feb 6. I told my mother this and she started yelling at me that i told her the 7th. i tried to explain to her why i need it the 6th and she couldnt understand. Originally allstate told me its 1380, then said no its 831 that is due on the 6th. so i told my dad and he flipped that allstate made a mistake. thats a huge difference because brian and i have to pay 356 no matter what and my dad has to pay the difference. so the difference is over 500 dollars for him.

so after arguing with allstate, and getting the answers the total due on feb 6 because it has to be post marked by the 6th because its due on the 7th is 1380. which means my dad has to pay 1025 and brian and i 356. my mom argued with me about it and told me in her 25 years of paying car insurance its never been more then 600 a month. i told her you dont have a license, you dont own a car what do you know about car insurance. she's all mad that she has to pay so much. i am doing my father a huge favor because she messed up.

so i call my dad (meanwhile i left about 20 messages at home on the answering machine for brian) and i have been back and forth on the phone with my dad and allstate.

conclusion: my dad is getting his commission check thursday morning, and will be going to allstate to pay the full 1380 and then on saturday i will give my dad a check for my part.

i am just ready to scream and have a panic attack.

Can't your father open his own policy, without your Mom on it?? What about Brian - is Brian older than you and considered less of a 'risk' by the insurance company?
There's got to be a better rate out there for you guys...unless your Mom's mistake is the reason you have such high insurance premiums.

I'm sorry this is such a mess for you...try to take a deep breath. Everything will work out.

Re: vent/panic attack, arguing with mom

my dad did have his own policy, but my mom screwed up royally. she forgot to send the payment to the insurance company for about 2 months. then the policy was canceled and dad never knew because she never told him. so he was driving without insurance for about 6 months. he tried to get a policy on his own but because of the lapse no one would insure him.

so brian and i had to do my dad a huge favor and we put the car in brians name and added brian onto my car insurance policy so the policy is in brian and my name. so the policy has an oldsmobile which is brian and my car and the pontiac which is my dad's car but registered to brian.

so because of the 2 cars, brian and my name on the policy i am a risk and this makes our policy really high.

by getting all of this out and not screaming in my office i am feeling a little better.
