vent...rude people

i am so sick of people saying things like, you wont get married or it wont last. this is the second time have gotten this comment and i only get them at work. he was sitting there saying we have too many problems and it wont happen. um excuse me, we dont have problems, except for my immigration visa which is taking a long time. i try to ignore these comments, but they still hurt at the same time.

this person is miserable anyway, so that is comforting, but still how rude can people be?

It's nobody's business. People always have something to say. He's probably just jealous because he's so miserable about his pathetic life!!!!

I completely understand! If there's one thing I've noticed since I've been engaged, it's that everyone has something to say! I can't tell you how many 'WARNINGS' I've gotten about things for the future. Things like,'Just wait until you have kids. Then the true colors come out.' 'Make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.' 'I hope you know that it's not always going to be rainbows & sunshine, are you POSITIVE this is the guy for you?'

Mind you....These comments ALL come from people who have either gotten divorced, cheated on, or are completely miserable with their own lives. My FH is my best friend! Just keep your head straight & look ahead at all of the wonderful memories you will make in the future.

And when people say things like, 'It's never going to work out for you.' You just turn right to them & say, 'Why, because it didn't workout for YOU?'
Good luck girlie!!!! I hope your visa checks out soon!!!!

This is one of the reasons why I rarely let anyone know my business. Their quick to judge, and spew verbal vomit from their mouths without considering others feelings. makes me sick!! Sorry he made you upset, that miserable SOB!!!

Hi Kling Klang, Are you originally from New York? I went thru the whole immigration thing. I am from Long Island, my husband from Scotland. Are you petitioning for him for a fiance visa? We started our process in 2002 and it took about a year....he came in on his visa Feb o3 and we were married march 03. If you need any help or someone to co-miserate with about the whole process...I am a great listener.

Best of Luck to you.

actually i am going to live in australia with him, so i am the one stuck here. it should be done in 4-6 months, but you know that the process is still annoying.

I too have rude people at my place of work. My Boss says things like, oh just wait till you get married and you will be misearable like the rest of us! Comments like this are totally uncalled for and unprofessional especially coming from my boss, but then again.. he's not too professional himself.

It all comes down to jealousy, miserable people hate to see other people happy and smiling.

first....

i know it's easy to say 'just ignore these people', but sooo much harder to actually do that! misery loves company, and rude people like that are just bitter and have to poop on someon else's parade.

FH and i got this a lot when we first we're engaged. many of our friends were like 'Why are you getting married? you don't live together or have any kids yet? so why marry?' Um.....helloooooo!!!! maybe cause we are in LOVE. since we have opted to not live together before marriage....many ppl have said 'you'll never make it' or 'you'll wind up hating one another at first' they seem to assume they know things about us, that only him and i know. the same is happening to you.

always remember---opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one and they all STINK!

Re: vent...rude people

I have to say I am so surprised by this!!! no one has said that to us at all - BUT - we are a bit older I'm 32, he's 42. We both were in long term relationships that werent right for us, so when people see us together, they just see how right we are for each other.

People can't say wait until you have kids, because he has kids and I've been pretty much a stepmom for 2 years with them. We want more kids together, and people appluad that.

People can't say stuff about divorces because my parents were divorced, FH is divorced, and we put a lot of thought into what we want and it shows.

It's not like our engagemenet has been tra-la-la happy - he was laid off, and we were freaking out for a little while. We pulled thruogh. Finances have been very tough - and if we can survive this year (and trust me - it has been downright frightening - I mean, wondering what we can feed the kids dinner because we had no food!!! Thank god for pasta!!!)

Yes, people have said some rude things like - how is he going to be able to support 2 families - we pretty much supprt 2 families together. I knew what I was going into with this - not to say times haven't been tough, but we are survivors.

Sorry for the rudeness - that is the last thing we need when we are so excited about our wedding plans!!!

I can't stand it, I was at a meeting at work where I take the minutes, and someone was like omg your engaged congrats that is so exciting and she turned to the person next to them and they just rolled their eyes and were like yea good luck with that. It seems there is always someone in the crowd who had to be Debbie Downer.

i'm sorry you have to go through that!! People are so rude - i cant beleive the comments they make!! I also work with rude people and a runaway bride - i love her shes such a nice girl - shes called off two engagements shortly before the wedding when she bought everything and paid all the deposits and everybody keeps comparing me to her and she keeps telling me i dont have to go through with it. But i want to go through with it i love my FH and look forward to growing old with him - i'm not nervous or scared at all and nobody believes me!

we are here for each other - vent away!!

I can't believe how rude people can be. I am sorry that people are saying that to you!!! Don't listen to them. And I know that is easier said than said, but just remember you are getting married because of the strong love you have for one another!

some people have too much time on their hands and worry about others instead of their own lives, just try to ignore him!

PPL are just freaking rude and you need to let it just roll off your back or else they will drive you insane. You dont want to lose sight of your wedding and why you are doing it.

I havent gotten these comments, because I am a hothead and ppl know I will tell them where to stick it. But my FH gets alot of **** from all his married mroe than once/divorced co-workers. He finally got to the point and just told them, we are in love we are getting married and just because you were stupid enough to fail at it more than once doesnt mean we are.. (no dis respect to anyone who is getting married again). Some ppl think they are wise and giving good advice, but they need to also realize not everyone is the same.

Some marriages last, some fail.. but just go into yours knowing you love this man and it is going to be forever.

good advice, thank you all. it is just the second time i have heard this and ya know it gets annoying. b/c i have worked there almost 6 1/2 years and it was from the time i was 21, i have been close with these people. they have seen me go thru a few boyfriends and i just feel they judge me on that. people date, then they find someone. i guess people cant get past that .
