FH and I finally found some places we like that we can afford now we don't know how to decide between our top 5 because they all have different pros and cons. We also don't know if we should try haggling prices with any to see if we can get the amount lowered. Fh brought up a good point last night that neither of us probably thought of and is payment schedules with each rh. Are they all different or all the same. Did anyone else have a hard time making a choice of venue and how did you come to your final decision?

They are all different with the payment schedule. I was able to make a payment plan with my venue. I only visited 2 venues and made my decision based on the feel of the room. Didnt feel like your typical wedding hall, loved that there is a tavern for after the wedding and a bunch of us rented cottages on there grounds. I feel i will get full use of this venue. Good Luck.

They all have different ones. One place, which I didn't like, you couldn't pay with personal checks after you initial payment! It had to either be cash or cashiers check. Other places didn't let you use credit cards after the first payment, but the person check thing I found strange.
My sister-in-law did some haggling with her venues. When it came down to her final two, she went to the one with the higher price and said that the other venue was offering A, B, and C for a lower price. The higher-priced venue ended up lowering their price and she booked with them. So negotiating definitely has its advantages!

Jacktart86 - what is fox hollows payment schedule? KDNY133 do you mind if I ask where you are having yours? That is good to know I can try to negotiate I hope that works with these places.

I also think that the RH should make you feel special, not like a typical wedding factory giving you your plain folder with some basic info in it. When I was looking for my RH, my mom told me something that I have taken with me to every vendor appt. I have had: If they don't make you feel special before they have your money, they certainly won't after they have it.

That is so true we have had some god awful experiences throughout our search for a venue so that is very true and very important.
