venue dilemma
so, i started seeing places and there are 2 where i would seriously consider booking, but i'm torn for different reasons. first, let me start off by saying im jewish as well as my fiance and while we aren't very religious, kosher style is still the preferred route, particularly from the parents. my mom backed down since she just wanted me to be happy, and his mom wasn't forceful or mean at all, just stated she would prefer there was no shellfish or pork products at a jewish wedding and i'd like to at least try to honor her request.
one venue i loved, had beautiful outdoor surroundings, but the menu is problematic as a lot of it includes pork and shellfish and while the person we worked with said he 'will work with us' he didn't seem overly accommodating to add equivalents of what we are taking away (noodles is not an equivalent of shrimp to me) and i do not want to just pick whatever is left, i want to choose my menu and make my guests happy. also, liquor was quoted as 'top shelf' but that does not include grey goose and other things which I think should be included as people we know might ask for them and i'd be embarrassed not to have it for them. i'm not asking for these crazy blue or black label drinks, just basic top shelf as i see it and other places include. i would also have to have a morning wedding since evening/twilight is too pricey.
the other venue is kosher so menu is not a problem and the facility is nice and budget friendly also allowing us to have an evening or twilight party. the only downside i lose all the beautiful grounds and photo-ops the other place offers. i've been to a wedding here before and i know the food is good and everyone will be happy here and i like the idea of a more formal evening party. plus if it rains or the weather doesn't cooperate, im not devastated.
anyway, i just don't know what to do to have the best of both worlds as jewish centers aren't traditionally located in country club, beach, garden settings which are beautiful for a wedding and other catering halls might not be as budget friendly for an evening affair or as easy to work with regarding the menu.
any words of advice are appreciated. TIA!
