I am planning a very small wedding with just 50-60 guests for a Sunday evening anytime from June to October. I am looking for a small, private venue prerably with a waterview and offering the ceremony & reception on site. I want an outdoorsy feel so a tent, enclosed patio, rooftop, etc. would be ideal.
Does such a place exist? And are there places willing to accomodate such a small party?
I have contacted some 'smaller' venues (like OFC) but even stil they are not willing to take such a low minimum.
I thought having a small, intimate wedding would be ideal as I don't have a large family... but now I find myself being pressured to invite more and more people just so I can have a wedding!
Anyone else in a similar situation? Any ideas?

Re: Venue for 50 guests? Possible?
Yes, I would highly recommend the Queens Botanical Garden. We had a small intimate wedding for 75 guests. Our outdoor garden ceremony & reception all held in same roof. We also had the cocktail hour underneath a red pavilion rooftop. It was gorgeous! The Visitor Mgr.and Events Coordinator Clare Del Monaco was amazing throughout our wedding planning. We had such a great time working with her. The reception can definitely be held outdoor in a tent which was what we did for our wedding. They also have an indoor hall that had recently been renovated with dance floor and lights that can accommodate up to 65 guests. Also, a small kitchen accommodation is located in the back room. A lot of streams, brooks, ponds, and a small water view are some of the new renovations to the garden. I would highly recommend to get your own caterer if you do plan on booking with QBG. Based on my experience, I would not recommend working with their exclusive caterer, Thymes Events, who charges over $100 pp. Find a caterer that fits a budget for a better deal. Also, the park requires event insurance for an outdoor wedding & tent. In addition, they require documents/permits from the vendors you work with for tents, rentals, caterers/liquor license. For the price and convenience, I would highly recommend it. We had such a beautiful wedding. If you like to see my wedding review & photos, please view my profile and click on my wedding review link. I'm don't know any off hand but how about doing something like a lakefront restaurant?
I would strongly recommend finding your own caterer to work with that fits your budget. My husband and I had an appointment with Thyme Events, the owner Linda was un-professional. She constantly yelled at her waitstaff at our appt. And she told us upfront that she doesn't work with couples under 50K budget. Needless to say, we rather work with someone who does not have their nose stuck up in the air. Other than the garden rental for the ceremony, QBG does charge for the rental of the garden space if you are having an outdoor reception in a tent. We rented out the Cherry Circle Lawn for 2,500 in addition to the wedding garden for 650. You do save a lot if you can find companies that do rentals at a lower cost than norm. For ex. Party Time Rentals, they have locations in Queens, upstate, L.I. and NJ. http://www.partytimeofcourse.com/ Also, wedding photos in my profile, click on my wedding review link.

Try Crestwood Manor in Northport, but go like NOW cause he's redoing the interior decoration and he's gonna up the price when it's done next month.
It's very pretty, it was just a little too small for us, but I was told they have a 50 person gurantee, and I';m sure on a Sunday night it's def not an issue.
It's very quaint and cozy, I really liked it. The guy, Savero, is a bit of a schmoozer, but a nice guy. Good luck.

The Thatched Cottage has a room for weddings such as this. My co-worker had 50 people at her wedding. Close friends and family only and she raved about it...good luck!

Try Trumpets ....in Eastport. Located on the water and good for a smaller wedding... I think the max was around 100-120 people. Have never been to an event there, but love the restaurant next door and my friend went to a wedding there and said it was amazing!
