Venue Help- Summer Wedding

Hi! I am looking to plan my wedding for the summer or 2010, but haven't booked a venue yet. Although we have been looking, I haven't fell in love with anything yet. With less than a year to go, I want to book fast, but don't want to settle. We want to have a beach or vineyard wedding and an outdoor tented ceremony, which can get expensive and difficult to coordinate. So we are open to reception halls that give that feeling, even if they are indoors.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a reasonably priced beachy or outdoorsy type wedding. We have looked at the Southampton Inn, Vineyard Caterers, Gurneys, and a few vineyards, but nothing has been exactly what we want. We are trying to stay away from the traditional catering hall venues and would like to find a park or any beautiful location on the island. Maybe even a golf course with a tent set up...

Does anyone have any creative ideas for a non traditional outdoor wedding??? Your suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!!

Old Field Club in Setauket is gorgeous...not your typical reception hall, has an outdoor space right on the water and they have been nothing but awesome since i have been dealing with them.

One of my friends is doing this at the Old Field Vineyard on the North Fork, but they can only accommodate around 110 people...check it out!

I wanted the same THING that you are looking for. I looked at ALL of the vineyards, I live on the East End, but after finding out all the coordinating you have to do on your own, I decided to keep looking. I checked out EVERY place ON the water, etc.... I finally went to the Snapper Inn in Oakdale. They have a gorgeous pavilion on the water.... Lori, the coordinator is BEYOND helpful. I ask her questions that have NOTHING to do with the venue and she gets RIGHT back to you. She's so helpful. The food is delicious and the price was not bad... FM for more info =) I plan to go there this month to take pictures of my own, when I do I'll put them up in my ablum.

I of course am biased toward Old Field Club also. It has a different feel than most of the halls out there and Tom is great! Check back for pics in about a week.

I initially checked out all of the same places you looked at and ending up deciding on Land's End. It is beautiful and on the water. They have been so wonderful to work with so far.

I'd say go check it out. You won't be disappointed

I am getting married at the Surf Club in New Rochelle, and my ceremony is on the beach, cocktail hour is on the patio and my reception is inside. There are other great spots too:

VIP (one of my top 5 and there are a bunch on Davenport as well that are worth checking out)
Bridgeview (one of my top 5)
Venetian Yatch Club (one of my top 5)
Atlantica ( I love this one!)
Marina Del Ray
Ummmm I know the Allegra in Long beach will be open next year and is totally worth checking out.
Lands End

If you have chance, go to Barnes and Noble and get a Locations Magazine. This was my bible I swear!!!

Good Luck

Lessings are great, and one in particular might be perfect; The Pavillion at Sunken Meadow
