Venue Hunt
Hi Ladies,We just got engaged last week (yay!) and are starting the venue hunt. I feel pressure because a few places we have toured already have limited availability; we would like to have the wedding next June.
I was wondering if you could share why you love your venue! Our major criteria is that the venue is exclusive and that it has phenomenal food.
Any help would be appreciated! For reference, we have been speaking with:
The Woodlands
The Carltun
The Bourne Mansion
The Inn at New Hyde Park
Thanks <3

Welcome and congrats! We are getting married at Fox Hollow (across the street from the woodlands) and we are so in love. The food there is amazing, the people there are soo nice and my room is everything I ever dreamed. They do two weddings at a time in the main house, but I have ZERO fears of seeing another bride because everything is so private. We have a beautiful outdoor patio just for us (perfect for FH's friends who are big smokers) and a private bridal suite right off the room. They also have the inn in the property for us and our guests to stay in which is so convenient! I can't wait!!!!!!

Congrats and welcome!....I never visited any of those but I know the Bourne Mansion has a large site fee just to have the wedding there. I know its more in the summer. Its a Lessings venue and if you call they will give you the exact price over the phone.....Good luck with the search!

We're getting married at the Village Club of Lake Success, it is one wedding at a time, catered by Philip Stone Caterers, who I've read good things about. A family friends' son got married there last summer and her as well as other guests I know said the food is phenomenal, and is very well presented. Congratulations and good luck!

I had a formal event at the Woodlands for my grad school. Beautiful place, but the food wasn't anything great. I've heard good things about the Inn at New Hyde Park and the Bourne Mansion.

the inn and nhp pricing is REALLY high- we looked there and were quoted like $210pp.. i also thought the dance floor was way too small for such an expensive venue... My cousin had her wedding at the woodlands and it was a really amazing wedding and the food was great. Prices are alot better there tooi heard bourne is very nice, but they have a site fee. haven't been there before so i don't really have any insight on that venue.
And the carltun is AMAZING!!!! I would absolutely 100% pick that place over all the others on this list. That venue is the most expensive of all of the ones you listed though, and I personally think that it's not worth the money when you have so many venues on long island to choose from.

Re: Venue Hunt
I highly suggest you look into Flowerfield, it's a private estate setting with a vineyard.I looked at the Somerley room and no matter which way you slice it, Fox Hollow does more than one event and even thinking you have a 'private wing' it's really not. And what they charge for that room is criminal considering that they do more than 1 event a time.

I got married at the Inn at New Hyde Park in December. They did an amazing job (my review is posted on the Bride's Review board). I agree with the pp who said the dance floor is smallish, considering how many people the room holds. We only had 140 people, so there was plenty of space but I could see how having over 200 might be tight if you have lots of dancers. It is expensive, yes, but you get A LOT for your money, and I never, ever felt nickeled and dimed. My best friend's wedding was at the Woodlands last year and it was also beautiful. I wasn't overly impressed with the menu (though it may have been what she picked) and the layout of the room was a little weird, but the outdoor space was gorgeous and she was very happy with them. Price-wise, she paid slightly more than I did per person, but her wedding was in June and mine was in December.
I looked at the Carltun and thought their menu was seriously lacking, especially for the sky-high price. I may or may not have laughed at them.
Good luck! If you go to the Inn ask for Katie, she's a sweetie pie :)

Congratulations and welcome to LIW. I am not sure what area you are looking for but I heard Woodlands works with everyone, I also like Royalton in Lawrence and try Chateau Le Mer.
