Hello brides, I am planning a July 2014 wedding. My fiance and I fell in love with the second venue we looked at, which quoted us $130/head (**including tax/gratuity) for the Saturday evening in July. Being the second place that we looked at, we are not sure if this is a deal, a rip off, or just about on target as far as price range goes. The only other place we looked quoted us $200/head, so we have begun thinking $!35 is pretty good, but the total of $16,000 just for the location, dinner, and cake is making us have second thoughts.
Just wondering if anyone could share some of their quotes for that time of year, or at least let me know if this price is anything like what you have been hearing. Thank you!

Re: Venue Price help
I'm getting married on a Sunday in May 2014 so I'm not 100% sure about price quotes for Saturday. I think $130 pp on a Saturday in the summer isn't bad if that includes all of the fees and gratuity. A lot of places will quote you a lower price and then pile on the additional fees. When all is said & done, those could end up raising the price $20-30pp!

Thanks for reminding me, that does include tax and gratuity. Before she factored those in it was $100/head.

Depending on what they're offering that definitely sounds like a good deal to me. That's a busy season! :) Can I ask what venues you're looking at?

The one we fell for is Willow Creek in Mt. Sinai. The other one we looked at was Giorgio's.
The one bit of advice that I can give you is to make sure you are the one in charge and dont let them know that you are unaware of how to do this....they will take advantage. They will always quote you high...so there is wiggle room.
My FH and I are getting married on a Friday, so that saves some cash there but you need to negotiate. They quoted us at $109 pp...we didnt accept the rate until they gave us everything else we wanted included.
We went to 5 places (more than that is just too confusing) and picked the things that we loved most about each place (as if you were to build your dream venue), made a list and went back to the one place we loved the most....told them that we are deciding between you and one other place (lie) because of what they have included...then you tell them that the other place offered all of those things that you liked about every place (obvi its a lie but they dont know that one place didnt offer you all of that)....trust me they will work with you and start to include things in the price they originally quoted you at.
Its easier to get things added into the price then the knock the price down substantially...but you can make it worth it by the things they are willing it include just to book your event.

Re: Venue Price help
Hmm it seems like a fairly good price. I am getting married in January so the rates are way cheaper but she did say if we had been getting married in July it would have been about $140/pp so it seems like that is the going rate.

It seems like a good price for a Saturday Night, but if you are looking to save money I would go for a Friday or Sunday night before a holiday or make it an afternoon wedding. I didn't go look at Gorgio's because it is too far from me but it looks stunning online and it is by the water. Good Luck!

I totally agree with this! My date is Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. By doing a Sunday evening rather than a Saturday evening I saved around $20pp depending on the venue. Those dates book up fast though!

Well hello there, date twin!
The price that we noticed between a Saturday night and a Sunday night (right before a federal holiday) was about $50 pp. I realize that I probably could've gotten more although FH did negotiate and haggle and got us a few extras thrown in... we just fell so much in love with our place that even though it sounds like we are paying too much, it's worth it.
I would say if you love the place as much as it sounds like you do,the extra money per person becomes worth it because once you fall in love with a place, you picture yourself getting married there and then no other place compares. That's what happened to us anyway.
We wound up going back to the first place we looked at because I started doing research right after we got engaged and this place had EVERYTHING that was on our requirements list... no other place compared even though some other places were cheaper.
Something I've learned in my thirty years of life is that you get what you pay for. If you love the place... go with it.

Hi! We're actually date triplets b/c Stine Bean is also a 5/25/14 bride! Good date choice ladies! Btw - I 100% agree with what you said about picturing yourself getting married there. If you walk into a place and start planning out the details in your mind, no other place compares.

Same date as me! Can I ask where you got those quotes? $135 for a Sat nite in summer sounds pretty good to me. $200 is high but not unusual.

Re: Venue Price help
Including taxes and the 20% 'administrative' fee we are paying a little over 130 per person for a Friday in July. It's a holiday though, so that might be why it's a little more. But at the places we were looking at 130 is a good deal. Almost every other place was around 150+++ including taxes/fees
